Hi Everybody:
I see competitors adwords ads on the local paper and I want to know how much are they paying for clicks of those ads, is that possible?
Secondly of course, I would like to do the same on specific local sites only.
Does anyone here know how exactly you do that? I tried running an ad on adwords myself and I never say it where I wanted to see it displayed.
I need help with this please.

There’s probably some better experts than me, but here’s my .02:
You can’t know EXACTLY how much they’re paying, but you could try bidding on the same terms to get a general idea of the range they’re paying.
Also, I believe you can specify geo-targeting (so it would only appear in local sites) but as far as Google adwords goes I don’t think you can specify which sites it will run in. However, I do believe you can block certain sites from running your ad.

I’m not a fan of pay-per-click. Since I don’t recommend it to my clients I only have access to those accounts where a client has asked me to help them with analysis of their own accounts. I’m certainly no expert in this field. One of my clients is though and I can ask him a few questions.
On the other hand, I do recommend landing pages for this very thing through different types of campaigns – newsletters and email opt-in lists being one of the best options. However looking to the search engines; very optimized specific pages do the trick if you know how to do the niche research properly.
