business or life coach? (17 posts)

  • Are you using a business or life coach? Is Social Media Examiner going to help replace the need? I know this is helping me!!!

  • I’m not using either, however I am considering starting a Mastermind group as I think it’d be a good experience and a lot of fun.

The community here is very helpful and could replace the need for some, however I think others will realize the 1-on-1 coaching gives them that extra kick that helps them take it to the next level.

  • In my last position, I was given the option of having a business coach that I used.  SME is good for information but I would still use a business coach for a more personal touch.  I find though you get out of a relationship like that what effort you put in.

  • @dakotalocal thanks for commenting, what is Masterminds? @carolinechen-whatley thanks for your inputAccountability will be hard to have on SME but the information is awesome.

  • I believe that you will get the most value from focusing on the individual. A successful business starts at the individual level. If there is joy as an individual, there will be greater joy for the business.  SME can be a very useful resource if social media is critical to your success. Business coach or life coach depends on your current role in the growth or retirement of the business. Either way coaching can lead to better outcomes for the individual and the business.

  • @deairby  A Mastermind is a group of people who get together and share ideas and experiences.  Can be very beneficial in keeping motivation as well as having accountability partners.

  • Thanks for the comments. @klassikurvz

  • @dakotalocal Can you have the mastermind group online or does it have to be in person?

  • @deairby You can do it virtually or in person.

  • @dakotalocal thanks for your response, Jon

  • You’re very welcome, @deairby

  • I work with a business coach 1 on 1 and highly recommend it. I would have been lost starting a business without that expertise. I’ve found that networks like these go a long way but don’t “replace” the 1 on 1 support you receive with a coach who is a great fit for you and your business.

  • @stefaniefrank Is your 1 on 1 in person?

  • @deairby it’s a combination of email, phone and in person.

  • You know, not necessarily called a “coach”, if you have developed a business plan, one section should have been dedicated to advisors.  These are people that may not necessary get paid but are people you can go to with questions or for mentoring.  I remember when I first started my company someone pointed me to a website where in the US you could get paired up with a mentor who use to be an executive and could help with business questions… the site was http://www.score.org  I haven’t used them because I’m not based in the US but it might be of help to some others here.

  • I think I’d say both. For the 1st time in my business, I’m going to be working with a business coach mainly because there are so many new aspects of growth in my business that I felt the need of working one on one with someone to help organize all of it & then keep me on track. SME is a great place of learning & sharing, where we all come away stronger in the many aspects of our business. But, I don’t see it replacing the detail 1 on 1 provides.

  • @designbykiltz @carolinechen-whatley @stefaniefrank thanks for the input, very thought provoking
