blending pinterest and facebook (10 posts)

  • im  seeing  some businesses   putting  their every   pinterest pin  on  their facebook….do you think this is a good idea?

i love pinterest and it is  driving a lot of  business to us……  so many customers  have  pinterest projects, not  necessarily  from  my pinterest…. i hear about their projects a lot , and sell them  parts a lot…

  • @annfurnivall It would seem to me (but I am still a Pinterest novice) that one would pin to FB that which is relevant to your target market, but again, it would depend on what they are trying to accomplish with thier FB page

  • @annfurnivall @joanmuschampfagnani Unless I am mistaken, there is not a way to limit which of your pins drive/share to Facebook. When Pinterest is granted Facebook access I haven’t found a way of limiting which share based on specific postings. I think it is a “if you share with everyone you share it all” type app unless they have altered the permission/app structure. Does anyone else know about this?

  • @alexandrabriggs worth knowing. Can you do the opposite…that is, post a link on your FB page which sends them to Pinterest?

  • @joanmuschampfagnani As far as I know, Facebook still does not allow you to “Pin” Facebook images and topics to Pinterest. Here is an article about the copyright issues being discussed with Pinterest as well: http://www.pcworld.com/businesscenter/article/250700/what_you_should_know_about_pinterest_and_copyright.html

I personally believe that may be why you can’t pin directly from Facebook in regard to copyright and the like.

  • @alexandrabriggs Thanks. I will pay attention and read this.

  • I had the option to choose, with who I wanted to share pinterest on FB, as any single post that I have on FB, but it will be showing in my personal page, not in my business page, and because my friends and family are not my clients, I prefer to keep it open just for myself.

On my FB business page I don’t see the reason why I should send my fans to look my pinterest posts, what I post on my business boards, is already on my FB business page, so I don’t want to open a window for my FB clients, to see outside.

In the other hand, yes I want people from Pinterest to go visit my FB business page or my other sites, to create fans or to finish the sale transactions, is like I’m recruiting clients.

For the moment, for me, FB and Pinterest are two completly different target market, so I have to have different Marketing strategies for each one.

  • thanks…. good  info on a  complicated   subject……my pinterest is  very  business  realated  but i  wouldnt want to  swamp  my  facebook w ith all my pins  so i guess i will just keep on doing   how i have  been  doing….which is  posting  a pinterest link   to one of my  boards  about  once a week,….

i find  the pinterest/facebook  relationship  very  odd….  pinterest wants  you  to  register  thru  facebook…???? but  facebook  wont let  you pin from  there….maybe  facebook  wants to   become  a little more like pinterest and  not  share with them….

i like pinterest!!!! for  me and  also  for my store…

  • @annfurnivall Are you seeing business pages with pins? Last time I checked you could not hook a FB page to a Pinterest account, only a personal FB timeline. So if a business wants pins to show up on their page, they would have to be manually linking on there.

I hooked my business Pinterest account up to our Twitter account. I then tweet pins occasionally, but not every time.

I have posted on our FB page about our Pinterest account (with a link) to try and get more followers. I also think posting about specific boards might get some interest.

  • @marylarson i do it about like you do..just links to a specific  board on my pinterest…once in a while..

on the ? of  where i  saw  the pns .IT WAS in the timeline   format so  must have  been on a personal page…it had all her pins  together and a  big logo…..  also  this week im  seeing   several  posts on facebook about what they pinned…. i havent paid  much attention to it…but i wouldnt  do it….i felt like if i wanted to see her pinsi would already see them on  my pinterest page…

.my pinterst followers, personal fb friends and   store fb fans   have  lots of people in  common …

i just looked at my  statcounter and  saw  about  15 pinterest   hits  to my website…..over  jsut a couple of  days…. i have over 400  followers..lots  from  my  facebook i imagine…
