Are you using VIDEO on your website? (11 posts)

  • Video is such a great way to develop and build the Know/Like/Trust connection with your clients.

What are the ways you are using VIDEO in your business?

  • @katiecavanaugh Greetings.  I have just started looking into using videos. I was wondering if you or someone else might point me to a “check list” for making a video.  I have a recorder, a well lit place to produce the videos but that is the extent of my knowledge.  What software do I need besides what came with the camcorder?  What besides software may I need?  I am going to be producing “How to” videos for now.  Any help and info would be appreciated.  Peace, Robert.

  • Hi @robertbaker
Here is a basic check list to get started with your video process:

    • Well lit space (natural lighting is great but box lights really give you a consistent environment)
    • Tripod – a must
    • depending on the quality of your camera you may want to invest in a lapel mic.
    • Imagine your frame separated into thirds.  Place yourself in the first or third area is a general rule.
    • Give some space and time at the front and the end of your video where you are just in the frame for editing purposes.
    • Black and wild prints are apparel choices to STAY AWAY from as a general rule.
    • Outline your message and practice without a script – make it feel personal as if you are speaking directly to ONE person (actually – you are!). You are after authenticity!
    • The more you do it the better you get so don’t be hard on yourself – just keep at it!
    • Set up your Youtube account.  Once  you download your video Youtube creates the URL that you can put on your website and use in emails.
    •  Try using Youtube’s video editing process to start with or the software that came with your camera may be all you need while you are developing your skill.

I have been putting videos up on my site for a while now and have begun adding videos to my sales pages as well. Hope this is helpful. It is a journey and I hope you enjoy the process of developing your video usage as a tremendous way to connect with your peeps.  Your thoughts…

  • @katiecavanaugh  Thank you so much.  I have copied your list and will start tomorrow implementing my video marketing.  This was a great help.  Peace, Robert.

  • I have been using videos on my website for the past 2 years.  I offer Inbound Marketing Services and although I have shied away from taping myself, I have created powerpoint presentations describing what the services are and the benefits.  Once I have created the powerpoint, I convert it to video, add music, and can post it on various Video sites like You Tube, Vimeo, etc. as well as embed the You Tube code so it feeds directly into my site as well.  My next step will be “how to” demos and I have a screen capture software to do that and audio recording software.  Don’t know if I will ever get to appearing on video but what I have done so far has been downloaded frequently off You Tube and I have directed clients to my site to view some of the videos as well.

  • @katiecavanaugh Let me add, you are the authority on whatever it is you are teaching. Many beginners use expressions like, “I think you should” or ” In my opinion” or “I’m not sure what the experts would say, but this is how i like to do it…”

These expression make you sound like you are not the expert and viewers will not come back for seconds. Be the expert. Use lots of short videos that will transition well into blog posts.

One of our best clients uses a lot of video for a ministry outreach, and we see a direct relationship between a newsletter with video embed and funding. http://mibridgemi.com/videos/

    Video is a must!

Hey @dcoville001 what are you using to convert powerpoint to video? I know there are a lot of options, but i still have not found one i love.

  • We believe in using the customer voice in most of our marketing efforts. We’ve been doing a customer video series for the last year and a half and have been getting a lot of mileage (and time on page) out of them. At the moment we’re featuring a montage of several customer interviews on our home page: http://www.fleetmatics.com. We send one of our folks out with a hired film crew and put a lot into production values.

  • @katiecavanaugh Not yet but it is in the plan for website and FB. Want to use it to promote some entrepreneurial workshops I plan and organize for a nonprofit org.

  • @katiecavanaugh What great info/outline/steps.  This is wonderful.  Thanks

  • @katiecavanaugh We use video on our website, not of us but of video that we created that stands out from the crowd with good music and good information.
We use the video for email’s that we send out, and when we do video conferencing we of course use one or 2 videos that we did to show before and after the webinar in most cases.
We want them to know what video looks like and since Video is the fastest growing segment on the internet because of high speed access, this is a great way to introduce your business and your products/services.

  • I like Preston,

Send out video emails to stay in touch with my connections and customers, plus it a great way just to say Thank you for your business. It’s personal and people love to get them. They are a great way to delight the customer as well.

I use videos for welcome messages on my blogs – or just to give tips in how to’s. Video is so versatile. I don’t use You Tube that much unless I am promoting an event..with their policy changes. I have written a couple of articles of why you want to use Video in your marketing. It’s a wonderful tool.

@Michael I like your idea of using testimonials on your blog@Katie, yes be relaxed and just be yourself. I tape my main points on my computer when using my webcam..just as a reminder of what I really want to say.
