Sometimes, I stumble across something that’s just so unexpected it makes me share it.
A moment like this proves that we have so many opportunities to surprise, education, entertain and inspire people, whether on our websites, social media profiles or more.
Case in point: Evo’s Out of Stock Message:
I really don’t know how to say this but uhhh….. the item you’re looking for is currently out of stock. The customer who purchased the last one left you this message. [Brings up a YouTube video of the losing "horn" on Price is Right.]

I’ve always liked the idea of surprising people (in a pleasant way) through marketing.
Are there any typically dull parts of your website, and what can you do to improve them?

Love the ‘bummer’ video – I see a lot of snippets from that movie around.
For my websites – I think they could use some jazzed up personality. And I think that is what it comes down to – ‘personality.’ Actually entertaining your customers/clients might be something we don’t really consider, but probably should.
I also think this is funny as ‘back when’ you saw a lot of personality in most websites – now they are all bland and alike, for the most part. I think we’ve given over a lot of good ideas to appear ‘professional’ – not a bad thing – but with a little spark of personality, we probably all could do better.

Yeah, that is fantastic.
I did give me an idea to record a video to embed on my 404 page. I have already customized the message into something humorous and added the Wordpress Loop to show the latest posts. But, a YouTube video would be funny and entertaining/educational, etc.
