Architects and Social Media (6 posts)

  • I have been asked to give a talk about how architects are using social media and I am looking for examples of best-practice to showcase during my presentation. Any suggestions?

  • @chatmarketing I see one of my young FB friends, who is an architect in VA use FB with images of projects. Sometimes they are in progress, others are with completed projects. I have not seen her use Twitter.

As for best practices, first follow general social media best practices, with information that is valuable in a ratio to self promotion.

Sharing related articles on topics of interest–say “green” building for LEEDS certified architects, etc. would be a good way to go. This could be done on either FB or LinkedIn

Obviously Pinterest could be used for a visual catalog, and I would suggest again using an image to drive traffic to a blog for more article style information.

  • Thanks @joanmuschampfagnani,

Some good advice! What is the name of your architect friend’s Facebook Page?

  • Hello  @chatmarketing

Here is an outline of how one company handles SM albeit from over a year ago:

Social Media for architects and designers

There are not notes there for G+ (for obvious reasons!) but it does come at the subject from the view of  architects/builders.

  • Thanks very much @supereb!

  • Check out the work of Paul Wilkinson at http://be2camp.com/

That site is specifically for social media and construction people.   Also check out the work of su butcher who does social media for construction also.  http://www.justpractising.com/

Also this guy calls himself the entrearchitect  http://entrearchitect.com/

Just some thoughts and best of luck
