App/website/platform for distributing coupons? (8 posts)

Topic tags: coupon platform
  • Hey everyone,

Quick question. Say that I’d like my website visitors to be able to download a coupon before they visit my store. In order to download the coupon, they need to supply their email address (which I’d like to have access to later), and each coupon should be tagged with a unique identification number (to prevent people from making copies).

Does anyone know of any websites/apps/platforms that provide such a capability? Doesn’t matter if it’s an external website, i.e. doesn’t need to be a WordPress plugin or an internally-hosted script.

I am having a really hard time finding something like this, despite the fact that you’d figure it would be something that small business owners would be interested in.

Any leads would be greatly appreciated; thanks in advance!

  • @lukaspleva Hi Luckas If you have a WP site I think this plugin does what your looking for VoucherPress, You can create a voucher with whatever text you want, choosing the layout and font from a range of templates (you can also add your own templates). Vouchers can then be viewed, downloaded and printed from a specified URL.

There are shortcodes to add a link to a particular voucher, to show an unordered list of all your vouchers, or to show the registration for to request a restricted voucher.

You can require visitors to provide their name and email address to get a voucher. If an email address is required an email is sent to the address with a link to the voucher URL. Each voucher has a unique code, and vouchers that have an email address associated with them can only be used once, so once a registration-required voucher is downloaded it can’t be downloaded again. http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/voucherpress/

  • great question, Lukas, looks like Alf has a great answer…did this work for you? @lukaspleva @donalfdellifiori

  • @lukaspleva If your web hosting company supports PHP, then this is a rather easy script to write. I would create a PHP script that accepts an email address (possibly first/last name, etc), create a hash number (very unique) using the email address (and name, etc), then send a custom email to the recipient with the unique hash value.

    Does this sound appealing?

I suggest that you have an SSL certificate esp if you want first/last name.

    Good luck!

  • Thanks so much for the recommendation, @donalfdellifiori. I just installed the plugin, and it seems to be working great!

There are a few customization options I wish the plugin had, but for now, this will MORE than suffice.

If you want to take a look at how I implemented it, check out the homepage of the small business website that I built and manage:

    Thanks again!

  • Hi Lukas,

I’m a litle bit late but you can also try Hisocial.com, it does exactly what you are looking for, and you can also force to “like” and/or “tweet” before they can access you coupon.

Now it’s free so you just cant try it

  • great job, Lukas and yum! glad you asked this question and got good answers. @lukaspleva
