I do advertise but not a lot with tweets, only occasionally, a few times a week. Which, in the whole scheme of things, is not much because I tweet dozens of times a day, most days. The tweets themselves are usually posts that lead to one of my websites. Since I check stats regularly on my websites I can see how much traffic I get but not conversions. When a new potential client calls or emails, my standard question is “how did you find me/my business?” and the answer is almost always through search. This tells me that my SEO works well.
Where I advertise (mostly) is with my twitter background and I have no idea if this helps or not, really. However, I do get a lot of positive comments on that. Once a client signs on and they follow me at twitter, I do get a lot of RT’s from them.
Social Media for me, works like this — it shows clients and potential clients that I am on top of what’s trending (good or bad); what works and what does not work; how Google is acting; et ali.
So even though I don’t have definitive results from Social Media per se, I do have positive feedback from all the major SM entities and that includes twitter.
