Accidentally posting duplicates? Check your mobile phones :) (4 posts)

  • Accidentally posting duplicates in SME’s Clubs? You might not even know it, but it’s happening quite a lot lately.

Not sure why it’s happening, but I suspect it may be from posting with a mobile phone.

Anyone know how or why this happens and what we can do EASILY to help prevent it or fix it?

Phil, our moderator, has been a real trooper in going back and deleting these things, but first someone has to report it, describe it, and link to it, so Phil can find it. Very time consuming and not user friendly.

But whatever we can do to help each other out here, let’s do it. I just think lately, in the last few days, it’s happening a whole lot. So just wondering if maybe there’s another explanation besides just mobile phone glitches.

    Wacha think, yall?

  • I thought it was the ‘post so nice ya gotta post it twice’ policy

  • @richardmclaughlin – we need to create a “laugh” button :)

@atlantarobin Another reason why the double posting happens can be a server issue. Many of us get happy trigger fingers when we don’t see instant results and so we hit the button twice. When the screen finally refreshes, we find we’ve posted twice. If you see that happen, feel free to delete one of your posts. Otherwise, we try to catch these things along with our other moderators.

  • @richardmclaughlin Oh, you silly boy, you are soooo right!

@phil-mershon  You know, I just got a message from new member William who was having trouble with what I thought was a happy trigger finger problem, too. So maybe you’re right about the slow server issue, perhaps when traffic is high and it gets sluggish. I’ve noticed that the same sluggish problem triggers my “cancelling” friendships when I had just hit the send button… or so I thought. It’s hard to tell sometimes if my click just didn’t take and I need to hit it again OR if I need to watch refrigerated molasses drip drip drip while I wait for the server to do it’s thang.

Anyway, William was accidentally cancelling his newly-acquired friends, too. So I’m assuming that all our repeat and add/cancel problems are due to the high traffic and sluggish server.

That’s my Wonderful Wizard behind the Computer Curtain explanation for now…
