The learning was amazing, I suggest you to read 8th Habit by Dr Covey, it has many of these points.

The most important points:

1. Have the mission for each team, org and yourself written … then share it with the team …. let them buy in 
2. Have a win-win agreement drafted with the team, where you give 2 to 3 ajor goals every month.quarter and let him achieve it for sure… this is how some of the companies became strong … like say dell where they measred all possible process and improve time at all process .. now they keep less than 4 days of inventory, cutting the cost really low.
3. Working on Wildy important Goals every week (WIG)
   
4. Instead of working on LAG measures work on lead measures (it gves amazing results)
5. Have 1 meeting every week, involve the team, make it public accountable etc
