21 Social Media Practitioners Weight In on the Future of SM. (6 posts)

  • Hiya Folks.

I saw this today and thought I’d share it here.  It’s a couple of months old but I found it worth the read.  One of the folks interviewed is a member here too — Peter Trapasso  @petertrapasso — there could be others but I recognized him right away.

The Future of Social Networks as Interpreted by 21 Social Media Practitioners

    Interesting.

    Eileen :D

  • Hi Eileen,

    Thank you for noticing. :)

    That was fun to do.

I was especially honored to be mentioned right after Mark Schaefer.

    cheers,

    Pete

Peter, so glad you mentioned an oft overlooked hotspot… localized mobile media. I agree that this could be the “thing” that unplugs the limits to what has become a perceived leveling off. Not so… no one’s even put a dent in “localized” mobile platform opportunities as people have yet to get over the “mobile” part being anything but another carry around pocket phone yet.

On the opportunity side, do you know of any vendors who’ve won the battle of holographic mobile yet? To pop a large holographic screen in front of you from that little pocket phone would definitely stir things up and allow everyone to actually SEE what mobile can do. Unfortunately, for tired old squinty eyes like mine, I need that mobile phone to give me something I can actually SEE and use. Until it gets that BIG and SMART, smart phones are just not a platform I can see and use very well.

Soooo… I’ve heard rumors brewing about something BIG and SMART that won’t discriminate against my older crowd. Have you?

  • @supereb WHAT A GREAT  READ!!! my view is that  fb  will  stay big and  strong  for a long time……  but  change…and  so what if it doesnt work for   the huge  corps,  it still  might  for small corps   like mine….

@atlantarobin I HEAR  you on the size…..  and  wonder ?? dont most  of  my potential customers, [homeowners , not kids] use   their phones  when  they  are   out of the house,  but at home  dont they prefer their laptop or  computer or ipad?……  who would want to  read a  thing on  something the size of a phone when  you  can easily have a whole 14 inch  screen?

i want to  be   mobile  friendldy for sure….and i  thnk we are….but   am i  wrong   to think  most  still use their  bigger   devices  when at home….?

im a luddite with a  flip phone that i only carry  when im on the  road  .

.so im doing some guesswork here….i DO  see my  customers  on their phonnes all the time and  expecting me to   do phone thngs  for them   a lot  like  send pictures to them by phone…..

p.s. wouldnt bigger  be   against the idea of mobile and small enough to  fitting into  your pocket or belt?

  • @annfurnivall

I hear you, Miss Ann. Small is mobile, transportable, easy, convenient, throw in your pocketbook or wallet sized. Big is not mobile.

But that’s why I’m asking for people to keep ears and eyes out for the holographic developments or the new technology that can give my tired OLD squinting eyes the BIG rest they need when out and about.

Basically, I’m asking technology to make ME portable, transportable, and MOBILE, lol. OK, all you young whippersnappers, don’t make fun of my tired old eyes. Just bring me my BIG holographic mobile smartphone computer screen and I’ll make you a billionaire in less than a week.

    Deal?

  • lol… i cant  get used to the size at all… yet……..  @atlantarobin  the  companies   would  do well to have some more  baby boomers on their   judging   products  board ……….

i did  get an iphone  4  ….  but  still having issues  getting the pictures onto  facebook  THROUGH    my   computer files …

….. im  starting to think i got mine(his old one)   so dh  could  get   his  #5….i have learned  that to tekkies in my  world     2  years is  old!!!
