with Timeline Pages there IS fan-gating BUT… (4 posts)

    it definitely is buggy. my page as well as some big pages (i’ll use Macy’s in this example) have tabs with fan-gated content to encourage the LIKE 

    see this page for an example:

    • http://www.facebook.com/Macys
    • make sure you’re not already a fan
    • click on their WIn a Million tab
    • then click “like” to “See what’s in store…”
    • once you do, the page does not refresh to the fan-gated content
    • you have to manually refresh your browser page to see it (the page thanks you for answering their casting call)
    at least this is so in my case, and also on my own fan-gated tab on my page.
    do you think this is a glitch in all the existing fan-gated software and will be fixed?

    I use Woobox and they’ve sent a message to their users warning them about this. I guess all platforms that provide Fan-Gating will have the same issue due to the changes Facebook put in place for Timeline.

    Woobox is working on it and so should be the other platforms :)

    just found out via a ShortStack seminar that the “like” refresh behavior is a Facebook bug and their engineers are working on fixing it. one more mystery solved!

    A bug was submitted to facebook about the “LIKE” button not refreshing the page.  If facebook fixes that, the like “fan gating” will work properly.
