Wildfire or Buddy Media? (9 posts)

  • We are in the midst of trying to decide which platform to go with as a promotional solution. Anyone have any experiences they can relate?

  • What exactly are you looking to do? If you have specific needs, there may actually be more cost-effective solutions.

  • @lukaspleva I am looking for a tool that offers plug-ins to allow for some promotional programming within FB (i.e. contests, chats, etc)  The solution needs to be one that can be heavily personalized too.  Thanks for your response.

  • I have used neither one – I am very interested to hear others’ responses to this. My question is this: If I simply want to say on a fan page, “Like” our page for a chance to win XYZ book, does this actually violate any Facebook rule? Yes, I’ve read the rules, yet I’m never clear on this.

  • Hi

I have tried a couple including InvolverNorthSocialShortstack

The best one so far that I love the most and so doe my staff is ShortStack.  Not only it’s easy to work with and full of features, the price is really good.

    Check them out:

I did a contest with them a while back for Halloween:http://www.shortstack.com/2011/10/shortstack-spotlight-inetvideo/

    Hope that helps

  • I have used Wildfire @susancelliott and really like their contest app.  If you go with the white label (expensive) you can then customize it more.

Buddy Media is a little different – they have some tracking and analytics and some conversation tools but I don’t think they have a contest app.  I could be wrong on that.  I know that Mari Smith has said a lot of great things about Buddy Media but I haven’t tried them myself.

  • @susancelliott

If you’re just looking for apps, I would look into Involver.com or Northsocial.com.  If you’re looking for something more integrated and have a budget to back it up, I’d go with Buddy Media.

@andrea-vahl Buddy Media has Profile Buddy which has contest apps.

I’ve worked with all of these companies in various ways and think they provide the best solutions.

  • Liking a page can NOT be a condition of entering the contest.  You can’t incorporate any of FB’s “actions” in your contest…

  • @susancelliott, also if you are looking for full customizable Friend2Friend are great to work with. I did a video contest app with them and a promo app and they do all the work on building and design, so it allowed me to focus on other things. Which was a great relief.
