why i love facebook….. (12 posts)

  • before work i got  called to go over to the store and get paid  for   a 300 $ item, she  saw on facebook and  bought over the phone….and after work i got  called from  someone in the driveway  who wanted to buy a vanity in an album i  posted a few days ago… 180$$$…. neither person   knew our hours apparantly….lol…luckily i live  real  close to the store…

but  facebook  made its point to me again today…and  the  value of   our pictures….

  • That is fantastic Ann! I know I see your photos in my stream regularly. I love them, wish I lived closer!  I’m a long way from Rochester, IN! LOL

  • I really like Facebook for it’s accessibility.  It is like I can talk to people I’ve not seen in years, and make friends with people I probably will never meet.  I also like to see what others are doing elsewhere.  I have recently put my business on a page for all to see.  It’s really handy.

  • @juleswebb THANKS  JULES….im sure worried about the pictures tho,  mine  dont  get to as many  people as they used to….any ideas on that?

  • @annfurnivall  I have been hearing a lot of grumblings about how pics no longer rule over text posts for the amount of people that see them.  However, your very real results from your pics show that it may not really matter in the long run.  It is really more about “who” sees your pics than how many.  If, as it seems happens, some of the people that see them are willing to buy (and over the phone, sight unseen for that matter), you are getting the results you want.

I have read many things that Facebook changed some things that resulted in these lower numbers for many, and the pics issue has baffled the most.  So far I have also not heard of a solution.  So I guess we will just have to deal with the ever changing Facebook issues as they come.

Bottom line Anne, Facebook seems like a fantastic venue for your business and congratulations on those sales!!

  • @kimkline it  really is working for us….both  those sales were to   earlier customers,  facebook  just  showed them  what   we had right now!! they  both  complimented our page …

im not hearing much   either.,,, whats  bad and  rarely mentioned in the   info  is the   silent majority….. the    folks   who  liked  our  page and  looked   but never   commented  but still  like our store and     and  maybe  thought of us when it was time to go shopping….. i need  those  people too…

some  say to ask  for likes,,,, but how often  can  you do  that   ?   im uncomfortable   on that one….or  asking them to   put us on an interest list…..i dont  think many  would  bother with that……thats  asking a lot…  imho..

so i guess we just have to do what you said,,,try and  deal with it…

  • That’s wonderful @annfurnivall  Great example of how Facebook directly impacts your business.

I agree with @kimkline – text posts are getting a lot of press right now but photos still get engagement.
I think you are doing all the right things, Ann!

  • @annfurnivall  I also am uncomfortable in “asking for likes” and I do not want to irritate people that are kind enough to check out my page.  I do, periodically, pose a question that I hope will prompt a response to increase engagement and reach.  I do not do this on every post, or even every day.

I have also seen others run a poll to check reach.  Maybe you could look into posing a question or even displaying 2 similar items and asking for preference choices?  Either way, you may see increased numbers using something like this.

No matter what, I still think you are using Facebook in an awesome way and can see why you are happy with the results!

    Have a great Thanksgiving everyone!

  • @annfurnivall I second  @kimkline viewpoint.

The people who are interested in seeing your posts will interact with them (click on photos to view them, click like, add comments) all those actions are cues to facebook to keep presenting your posts in that person’s timeline.

You are too far away for me to take more than casual interest in your posts so I don’t interact with them as much as I do others and I still see you speckled through my timeline. So if you have more local interest viewing your merchandise then I would have to assume that is who gets presented your content more.

Isn’t your opening statement proof of that? Seems to me it is.

I think you do a great job of ROCKIN Facbook.

    Keep it up!
    Jules

  • Hello All…
Just wanted to acknowledge the value of posting pictures that are completely unrelated to your product or business.  I find these photos to be the most engaging.  i.e. a picture of a new business in the community wishing them good luck…posting a Girl Scout photo supporting their latest efforts in the community etc.

    The theme?  Community:)

    Cheers!
    Lynn

  • @elle Good thoughts! I agree that presenting a sense of community can be very helpful.

  • Thanks Kim:)
