Who’s coming to Social Media Marketing World?? (43 posts)

  • I would love to have a networking group here in the Clubs for everyone who is planning on coming!  I know there isn’t an ideal area for this thread but I know that @rich-brooks is coming and I think, @kristi-hines, may be coming but will have a new baby at that point (woohoo!).

So if you are coming, post here and let’s connect!  I hope that as many of you can come as possible!  I’d love to meet you and really network together.  Again, the event is in April in San Diego http://www.socialmediaexaminer.com/smmworld/

  • Hi Andrea!

I’m also coming – and my team mates Michal and Peter too. We have the tickets already and we are looking forward to meet you all there! :)

     @andrea-vahl

  • @andrea-vahl This event looks amazing! I was checking out the details yesterday and pining to sign up. My hope is that circumstances will make it a reality next year. I am so looking forward to hearing all about it!

  • @andrea-vahl

Yes, I’m totally stoked about going there. Looking forward to seeing old (I mean dear) friends like you, and also meeting some of the other club members who I haven’t met yet “in the flesh.”

Although I love Maine, I’m always looking for an excuse to come out to San Diego…especially after a long Maine winter!

Plus, hope to see some of you at NMX in Vegas in early Jan.

  • Ha! @rich-brooks Looking forward to seeing you there so I can get you back..I mean give you a hug :)  It will be fun!
And I think @alexandrabriggs will be there, too
@ladik_  Awesome!  Looking forward to meeting you!
@dawnchitwoodrivers  We will definitely keep you posted on things happening at the event.

  • @andrea-vahl I can’t swing it this year but it’s on my radar (or bucket list?) to attend in the next year or so. Hope you’ll post some of the info in the clubs!

  • @andrea-vahl Yes, I will be there and I am looking forward to it! It was great meeting Phil, Cindy, and Mike at Content Marketing World and I can’t wait to meet everyone else I have interacted with through the Networking Clubs! Finally an in-person conference for SME!

I am really looking forward to all the speakers! All the SME folks and beyond (Jay Baer is such a great speaker)! Can’t wait to hear who else will be joining us!

  • @kc_kreative  Hope to definitely see you there next year, Kristy!

  • @andrea-vahl I’ll be there too! I encourage anyone who’s still undecided to read today’s article on Social Media Examiner  - 4 Reasons You Should Attend Social Media Marketing World - http://www.socialmediaexaminer.com/4-reasons-you-should-attend-social-media-marketing-world-in-san-diego/

(it is OK to do that Andrea? ;)

  • Loved the post, @patricia-redsicker!  Looking forward to seeing you there!

  • I’m definitely looking forward to meeting everyone and seeing old friends. @andrea-vahl @patricia-redsicker @alexandra-briggs @rich-brooks

  • I will be there.  Like @Rich-Brooks, I love Maine, but I used to be a San Diegoan and know January in Pacific Beach can’t be beat!

  • Looking forward to seeing you there, @entrepreneuronfire!

  • @andrea-vahl Well, looks like I will be there, as I confirmed my ticket last week just in time to benefit from the early-bird pricing ;-)

Really looking forward to connect with some of the folks I have crossed in SME networking clubs or in various blogs out there, perhaps even in Triberr. I also attended the SMSS and FBSS events last year and this year, so it’s cool to actually have this event IRL – in real life!

Will have to start looking into transportation & accommodation shortly, but this is the fun part of things, as far as I am concerned – working in the travel and hospitality industry for over 17 years, it’s a passion more than work, really…

    Cheers from Quebec City,
    Frederic

  • Awesome @fredericgonzalo!  Very excited to see you there!

  • I’d love to know more about this event and if it near me to see if I can go, but when I click on the picture that says see more details I get a one pixel gif. There appears to be a redirect. My anti-virus is probably blocking that. Does anyone have a direct link? Ahh, it is in San Diego. I wish I knew more about it, but the link still doesn’t work.

  • @planetzuda

Sorry for the late reply.  Try http://www.socialmediaexaminer.com/smmworld/

  • Not the best time for me to be traveling. Focusing on new client development and taking care of an elder parent with Leukemia. Busy, busy! I’ll make it out to another one.

Love San Diego by the way. Beautiful place to hold a seminar. I’m an ex-Californian, born and raised in the San Francisco area. Relocated to Houston almost 10 years ago.

  • I am coming with my daughter Karyn, it will be our first trip to your side of the world (we live in Tasmania, Australia) so excited – the line up of speakers is awesome. I was wondering how one manages to get to everything that turns you on?!…..

  • Still trying to arrange it but speaking at DigSouth conference on east coast in Charleston, SC the weekend after and schedule tightening like stretch pants on an elephant…

  • So sorry I  missed this last week, @bron-hogan but so glad you are going to make it out!!  Wonderful!  Yes, that’s the hard thing about these is coordinating the schedule for the day.  Decisions decisions.

Hope the schedule works for you @sharijstauch

  • Hi all, I am a full time mom and recently started a part time social media company. I have a couple small clients that I am working with and my goal is to build something slowly over a couple of years while my kids are young (and my time is limited) that I can ramp up when they are both in school full time.

I saw this conference and was excited about coming to it to learn from the best. I’d love to get some feedback, however, about if this is perhaps too early for me?  Are the topics all at an advanced level, and am I better off doing a one day event somewhere first?  Any input or thoughts are appreciated!
    All the best,
    Leila

  • @andrea-vahl I know I am impatient (LOL) but would you mind weighing in on my question above? I know the discounted registration is up in a couple days and I’m hoping for some feedback… thank you!!

  • Thanks so much for pinging me with this, @leila  I didn’t see it earlier!

Here are my thoughts on this question.  I definitely know that there will be a wide range of material.  If you know the very basics (which you should since you are working as a social media consultant) then I think you will get some valuable information from this.  I don’t think this conference is good for people who don’t understand how Facebook works at all, or haven’t signed up for Twitter yet.  It’s not at that early early stage.  But if you are using Facebook and Twitter regularly, even if you just have 100 followers or fans, you will get something out of this.

Where I think the REAL value comes in for these types of conferences is in the networking.  Since you are on a budget (I’m guessing since you are early in your business) you may wonder if you should spend your money here or something online.  Online learning is great but it can’t replace making actual connections.  I know my own business would not be where it was today if I didn’t make some sacrifices and go to live events.

All that being said, there are a LOT of places to spend money – I know how that can be.  So if you decide it’s not the right time, then that’s ok too.  You know your business and what you need better than I do.  So make sure you are doing the right thing for you and your business.  Hope that all helps!!

  • Thank you Andrea @andrea-vahl for the feedback!  Definitely is confirming what my gut is telling me. :)

  • I wish I could!  Unfortunately I am a bit far away and it’s hard to fit in my schedule in April.  But I have shared the conference program on our FB page: http://www.facebook.com/teamupcalendar

In fact this program agenda can be shared on any FB page via a calendar tab as shown on the FB page above.  Perhaps some fans of the pages of our club members could be interested in attending the event if they know such an event with so many top speakers is upcoming.  For those of you interested in sharing the event info with your fans, you can easily do so by installing a calendar tab using woobox and loading the agenda details at this link: http://teamup.com/ks0b14e91b4d8ab589

If anyone is interested in helping make the above agenda details more complete or up to date, such as adding speaker bios, let me know and I’d send you a link where you can modify the content.

    Happy sharing!

  • planning on it, not booked yet.

  • Looking forward to seeing you there @kittkat and sorry you can’t make it
    @jenny-zhan- next time!

  • no just not booked yet planning onbooking it in january

  • @andrea-vahl I will be attending along with my partner Rebecca.  Looking forward to some San Diego sun, after a season of snow!

  • Awesome @chik!  I’m looking forward to the warm weather too!  Can’t wait to see you there!

  • I will be there and I’m looking forward to it.  I’m not only looking forward to going back to San Diego and the great learning opportunities at the conference, but I also really like the emphasis on networking.

  • Excited you are coming @scott-murray!  It’s a great combination of fun in San Diego, networking, and great presentations!  Looking forward to it too!

  • Would love to be there!
Are we people far far away going to be able to access to some live events online? :)

    Have a great time!

  • No, unfortunately we are not doing a virtual pass with recorded sessions @maximiliano-garcia  Thanks!

  • I will be there! I’m very excited to be heading out that way to meet you all! I’m still not sure which speaker track to go down though.

If anyone would like to connect before the conference, just click my name and drop me a message on any of the social networks :)

    See you soon!

  • Awesome!  @samscholfield  Looking forward to meeting you there too!

  • Looking forward to attending, learning, and meeting everyone!

    Chris @chMtnViewPD

  • It will be great to meet you too @chris-hsiung

  • I have been booked since the tickets first went up (@mike-stelzner the video was the clincher) and since then I have had 5 Aussie friends decide to join me at SMMW & come over too so it will be a great few days – looking forward to meeting @andrea-vahl & @phil-mershon, speakers are awesome. You did good Mike and team!  2.5 weeks pre SMMW with family and friends in SF, LA and SD (beach rental over Easter at La Jolla!).  My husband (despite being tempted to switch careers from chiro to social media just to come to the yacht party) is bringing the troops back to Oz just before the conference…so nice of him to do the 17 hour flight with my 2 x little people!  Can’t wait!  PS Short of cloning myself are the extra sessions being recorded – we are struggling to choose who to watch as they a re all stellar options ha ha.

  • I am excited to announce I will be there!! This conference is an MBA graduation present for me. My thesis will be finished in May – “Joining the Social Bandwagon: A Benchmark of Social Media Use Among Local Small and Medium Sized Businesses.”
I have been recently establishing my own brand as EssentiallyAli on the various social networking sites and I hope to either land a career as a social media manager or consult local, small, and/or medium sized businesses in social media strategy. I’m really looking forward to learning tips from the best and gaining the inspiration I’ll need for what would be a career I love. As they say, figure out what it is you love to do, then find a way to get paid doing it!
Can’t wait to meet you all there!

  • hi friends!… I just bought my ticket for the event! yay, so excited! i will be flying all the way from Panama so I’ll be arriving on Saturday and leaving Tuesday night. Let me know if any of you arrive as early as me so we can organize something and meet up! you can reach me through here or on my twitter account: @pawichiz

  • @Donnamoritz Sorry that I missed your question 3 weeks ago – Ikes. Been swamped with logistics for the event, but no excuse.
