where are the posts? and more fb questions…. (10 posts)

Topic tags: likes, promoted posts
  • where are the posts i never see  from  my   likes?  are  they so  far  down i never  catch them  or  are they  reallly gone? ive  read  both   answers….lol…

ive  been  reading the comments on  fb  help center about   promoted posts….WOW…  lots of hate on there..about timeline and   promoted posts……. many say their likes  are going down  …mine  arent….another  # i saw all over the place was   only 16% of  your  fans   see  your posts….not  true  for me….????.i get about  30%   or more  for almost every post…….. do we all forget that  many numbers  are averages a nd not   one  number fits all?   …. many feel like promoted posts  are a  trick to push   your   viewers down and  make you have to pay…..

im  doing a promoted post right now….its got  48%  reached…. on a post i would  guess would have got  at least a  40%  reach…it  did  drag up  over  700  bored/absent/??? of my likers….

i have liked a lot of  pages  that   i dont see anymore…that was a  big  point  in    the facebook   comment s ection  too…. i mean  really i wouldnt  have liked them if i  didnt w ant to see them…i did  agree with that  complaint….

this all remains  confusing….hopefully  you will explain!!!

  • any  takers on these  questions?

  • Hi @annfurnivall – Sorry I didn’t get to this question earlier!  Yes the problem with Facebook Pages is that they aren’t appearing in the News Feed as much.   Your page has fairly high engagement and probably does better than most.

But as Facebook said, only 16% of the Fans are seeing posts.  I think it’s frustrating that you Like a page and say you want to see the posts but don’t.  They are clearly giving preference to personal profiles which is why some people are talking more about using the Subscribe button.  But I don’t think that always make sense when you want to brand the name of your company.  One thing you can do is to add pages to Interest Lists.  Click the wheel button on any Page, right next to the Like button and you can see the option to add it to an Interest list.  Then you will be able to keep track of the Pages you really want to see easier.  But it’s very frustrating as some people do feel like the Promoted posts are a “pay to play” model that Facebook is moving towards.

  •  @andrea-vahl thanks…..i  take it  you are saying  that the posts  arent there no matter how  far  down  you  look….  i assume  facebook  hides  the  recipe of  the  cut off etc etc…..  i doubt of  many fans   would  bother  with  putting me in their interest  groups…. maybe tho…

my  plan  now is to  use  promoted posts  about once a week and  only  4  or 5$$  worth…. it  seems pretty  reasonable…

  • @annfurnivall @andrea-vahl where on the help center did you see the complaints?

I gave Promoted Posts a whirl today, and I’d lie if I said that it didn’t go well, because it went pretty darn badly. eeeek!!

For this page in particular, a post averages between 15% and 20% reach. Our promoted post since this morning got 9% reach, and $6 out of the $30 budget is already gone. #fail

I plan on giving it another try tomorrow, but maybe not promote it immediately. Maybe try a couple of hours after the post launched.

  • i think i was here http://allfacebook.com/promoted-posts-for-pages_b90489#disqus_thread   it had good understandable info  for my level….but  the  comments  were pretty irate….i was  somewher where  fb  was  answering   oncein a while too….???sorry,  i cant  renavigate  very well….

my post  did  great…but it  was  really a good  picture and  idea and   maybe a good  guess on the time…evening…..and maybe a  big  fan base to draw  from…..it  got  most of  the  action   in the  first  couple of  days  …which  woudl  be normal…@

  • Wow, total fail, @alexandrapotora – I’m working on an article about Promoted posts, would you mind sharing the info with me on that in an e-mail?  You can reach me at andrea@socialmediaexaminer.com  A screenshot would be great if possible.  But if it’s confidential, no problem!

@annfurnivall  I would love to see more info about your post too if you could send me an e-mail.  I’m trying to contrast what is working and what isn’t on these promoted posts in my article.

  • @annfurnivall Thank you for the link, very interesting comments :)

@andrea-vahl I can’t tell you how excited I am to read your article. You’re an extremely talented writer. The client on the other hand, would like to keep that information confidential. I’m very sorry I can’t give more information to help with this issue.

I launched a new post on this page about an hour ago, and plan on promoting it in a couple of hours and compare the performance. What stands out to me though is the page activity after the promotion. Topic-specific posts that consistently get over 17% in reach, have both been under 13% after the failed promoted-post. That may or may not be related, we cannot determine that as of yet. Most alarmingly, both haven’t showed up in any of our news feeds either. We’ll see, and we’ll definitely keep an eye out for your article.

  • @ @andrea-vahl heres  my promoted post    http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/photo.php?fbid=10150995439462594&set=a.129820757593.132826.128260302593&type=1&theater

    out of  2854 fans

     .2183 saw it

    .it  got  811 paid  connections

    1402 organic

    573 viral

…and  48%  …i wuold  guess this  post  would have gotten  at least  30%  …it  was  something  pretty popular and  the picture was  good too……i think  almost all of it  happened in the  first   5$  …i signed up for  10$$….i got  20 or 30 new  fans  during that time  too….i cant totally understand    or  bench mark it…..  but im  happy…and will maybe do one  next week…also im  dong an offer now and   not  getting  much response…about  30  is all.

i still would like to know how a promoted post looks on the   person  being promoted to…. does it say promoted post?

i lke this and  dont like  sponsered  stories…. i wouldnt  want my  name on  someones page  in an ad…not at  all
