What would you do ? (15 posts)

  • Hello All,

Im new (ish) to Facebook Pages, I created one last year and dont do a lot with it. So here is my question. and hopefully it will grow into a good topic.

    My Facebook Page is http://www.facebook.com/pages/Pristine-Cleaning/125715280810869?ref=tn_tnmn

What would you recommend I do to develop it if I were your client.  Im interested in ideas from the design and from what kind of content I should add in order to attract more “Likes”.

    All ideas are welcome.

    THanks

    John

  • @johnpristine

Not sure if there is something wrong with the link but your page is not coming up?

  • Just My Luck

    How about this link

    Thanks

    John

  • @johnpristine

Don’t know what’s wrong, but when I click on the link I just get my own facebook personal profile?

If this is a glitch and not just me being ditzy, I guess that is a good place to start! :-)

  • hmmmmm, anyone know how I fix that ?

  • Hi John,

The above link works, also look at one of my Facebook pages:

  • @johnpristine … You have a profile here rather than a page. So you have set this up as if it is a person With a first name of Pristine and a second name of Cleaning, rather than as a business page. You have got 118 people to ‘friend’ it, but if it was real biz page they would be fans rather than friends. There is not 100% agreement about this in these boards but my first recommendation would be to convert it to a page ASAP.About the business… In my opinion a cleaning service is a tough business to pitch on FB. Not impossible, but tough. Do you have a great (and clean!) sense of humor? Can you build a following with doctored photos and cute stories that do not reveal any names?I recommend that you take a couple weeks to research this a bit. Do it by finding other cleaning service on FB. follow them for a week or two. See what they are doing ‘right’. Comment on their posts, get involved… You will not be stealing their work if you share it rather than copy it. I would set up a FB list on your personal profile, where you can go once a day to look at all the posts by all the businesses you are following… Do this for a couple weeks to see what works in your industry. Here are a couple of posts I did that might help with lists and sharing.http://www.abigailgorton.com/2011/10/29/facebook-lists-let-me-count-the-ways-in-which-i-love-you/http://www.abigailgorton.com/2011/11/02/following-sharing-passing-it-forwards/

  • Thanks Guys,

My Facebook Page is set up as a local business, I think you may be both looking at the wrong pages, Eric, your link links to a different PRistine Cleaning, Not Mine and Abigale, I dont have 118 people friending me I do have 60 Likes, Soo, even if I post a link its going to take you to your own pages and you wont be able to see mine.

More and More interesting this gets.

    John

  • @johnpristine I can’t find your page anywhere on Facebook. I found a AAA Pristine Cleaning page though! Is your page set to view only by you? Check your settings and let me know.

  • In terms of how to promote your biz, I have lots of ideas on that. You can give great cleaning tips and ask your followers for their tips, hold competitions, link in to local networking groups to build your local market. So much you can do. If you want to talk more, I offer support to micro businesses but first, let’s find that page!

  • Eureka!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had the page set to only be viewed by people in Ireland, I have changed this now to view by all.  So lets try this.

Thanks all for your help. So far…….

  • @johnpristine OK – so I was looking at the page for another Pristine Cleaning. With that behind us, I would stay with most of my recommendations: About the business… In my opinion a cleaning service is a tough business to pitch on FB. Not impossible, but tough.

Do you have a great (and clean!) sense of humor? Can you build a following with doctored photos and cute stories that do not reveal any names?

Quit with using Twitter to post updates, it just does not sit well with many people.

Create 5 pristine clean images to put at the top of your page that will work together whatever order they are in. Put them up top and keep them there
Ask if you need help to do this – I have posts on how to for that as well.

  • @johnpristine The question I would have for you, if you were a client: Why? Why are you on Facebook with a business page? Is Facebook the best way to reach present and potential clients?

Are you seeking to increase awareness for your services, or engage with your client base? Do you want this page to become a discussion forum, or you will simply use it as a broadcast media?

Answering why will lead you to develop the what, the when and the how. Perhaps Foursquare is a better option (don’t know how popular that is in Ireland), or Yelp or another local social network. Do you have a web site? a blog?

The worse thing anyone can do is to open up a Facebook page, just “because everybody else does”. Define your strategy and goals, then you can start thinking about tactics (some of which have been mentioned by @abigailgorton @casmccullough already)

    Hope this helps. Cheers,

  • @fredericgonzalo. Thanks for your input, yes your right I need to think about the Why?  yes I did put it up as a sheep following the crowd I have to admit.  Has it got me any work ? No! Not yet,

@abigailgortonThanks abigale, I will take your advice and stop the Twitter updates and start some research

    John

  • You need more pictures and I would recomend using static html app. to create a services tab and maybe a references or raving fan page…if you need help you can message me and I’ll see what I can do.
