What makes a landing page rock? (5 posts)

  • What do you think the elements of a rockin’ facebook landing page are? I’m interested in feedback for every industry, but especially for service-oriented businesses. Thoughts?

  • Great question!

A landing page is something that needs as much thought as an entire social media strategy, especially if you are going to stick with one general landing page for your business. Like a logo it needs, all of the informational elements, as well as consistency with the brand image that you’ve built. But I also believe it needs to reflect the time period we are in while playing to the tastes of your most active viewers.

Developing a landing page for a restaurant has been somewhat difficult because we cater to two very different and distinct groups, so building one page has be a challenge. I’ve been focusing on the nightlife aspect and its been about what’s hot right now in the night life scene like new alcohols and popular bands and DJs.

  • I like to build landing pages that allow me to update my Call-to-action each month so its keeps it continually fresh.  I find that any landing page gets old after a month or so.  And, continually updating it keep its interesting for everyone.

@snivinskus, I think the key to a rockin page is one that is allowing you to accomplish your goals for it.  I subscribe to the Learning Organization thinking that is we research, create a strategy, implement a strategy and the review/research again and star the cycle again.  When we do this we consistently update our LP with new CTA’s.  I believe the key is having the right tools to allow us to continually create new CTAs without breaking our marketing budgets for continually changes.  Its about systems to help us do what we want to accomplish and staying in budgets.

  • I find a landing page should be clean, concise and have links to your other social media efforts. My companies landing page for example ( http://www.facebook.com/soundgatestudio ) Informs a persn and links directly to: My twitter profile, the information page (basially about us page), Even key services like our online audio editing. All on the landing page. Some people don’t like it, I personally find it works very well. Check it out and let me know what you think :) Also, on the right side of this page I see a link to “Top 10 Small Business Facebook Pages: 2011 Winners!” I would definetly look at those for inspiration and ideas!I hope this helps :)Take Care & Good Luck!!

  • I also find that landing pages need to fit the targeted audience too.  @sgsrecording, I don’t personally love your landing page but I am sure that I am on the targeted audience.  So, its like you said, “some people don’t like it” but if you find that it works for your business and your audience/prospects like it then its a good landing page. Great work!
