  • Share your favorite Facebook apps that enhance your page.

  • I use Woobox, saw you mentioned it in the webinar. It is so easy to use. But would love to learn about others so I will be checking out the list of apps you mentioned.

  • It might seem very basic, but I think the apps. that link  your Twitter, and LinkedIn accounts to your posts, save time and efforts.  http://www.facebook.com/app/twitter

  • Also just wanted to add a couple links here on Facebook Apps

Here’s the post I mentioned in the webinar on Apps to create welcome pages:  http://www.socialmediaexaminer.com/top-10-facebook-apps-for-building-custom-pages-tabs/

Also here’s another post on finding apps:  http://www.socialmediaexaminer.com/how-to-find-and-add-facebook-apps-to-your-facebook-page/

  • NetworkedBlogs.

It’s probably the one we use most often, pulling in the content from our web marketing blog, as well as our Maine SEO blog and Florida SEO blog automatically to our Facebook business page.

  • I’ve only used the FBML app at this point for a page that I haven’t yet launched while we build the sites that go along with all that.
I’ve also added the “Poll” app again for future use.. but haven’t had the opportunity to use it yet.

  • iwipa

I think it is a powerful application that enables you to generate a unique look and feel of your page.

  • Hey @andrea-vahl , thanks for the link, I was searching for that.

I have a question about these apps. Is there an app that is free for creating a fan gate? I know a lot of people that have one page where they mostly interact with people but not too much in a business way. They still want to grab emails or something (example a lady that makes custom dog collars) and she doesn’t want to pay for apps just to create a fan gate.

Any of those you would recommend. I believe Woobox does it, but I never got deep into the issue.

  • Another application i highly recommend  is http://www.involver.com

Enterprise, Business, Professional , and Basic Applications.

  • @timsouthernwood I thought they removed FBML as an option on Facebook?

  • @brankicaunderwood Most of the applications mentioned in the post have a free option.  Some of them have a paid option for additional features.

FBML is not an option to add anymore – it still will be supported until July 2012

  • I really like Shortstack for custom tabs, its is very flexible. @brankiaunderwood Shortstack has a pretty good free option.

  • I looked at Shortstack.  Does anyone have someone that can customize a tab for my current branding.

I LOVE LOVE networkblogs.  Trying to keep up with twitter, FB, blog etc is much easier when I can make a blog post and it goes out on all the avenues.

    Great conversations

REALLY need a tab page for my FB business.  It’s an outsource project for me.  thanks for help!

  • Guess it’s time to review and change my app then..
I don’t want to be stuck scrambling to fix things when the page is open for business.
    Thanks @brankicaunderwood

  • @timsouthernwood – Static HTML for pages is a good solution because I have found it to be very tolerant of any FBML coding that may be in there.

  • I love the flexibility of  TabPress and TabSite for creating custom tabs, which is really the most powerful feature of FB pages, in my opinion. You can do so much with them.

Have to remind some of our older clients that have old FBML that it will no longer be supported. Also that if they created any tabs that pull photos or content from their own website, they’ll need a SSL to stay visible. Oh well…

  • Many thanks @andrea-vahl

  • @aprylparcher  More good points! This really gets to be an issue for me with Facebook.. making so many changes that forces all of us owning pages to make adjustments.
Reminds me of running a Wordpress blog with all the updates to the blog and plugins…. only worse!

  • We can’t prefer any application on other, each one of us will see the application from his point of view, choosing one based on his/her need. One more thing you have to take attention of is, what type of Facebook page are you going to create or manage, a Local business, company or organization, entertainment , product or brand, or cause or community,This will direct you to the best application to use since the design and look of your page is closely related to your business type.

What do you think of this ??

  • @aprylparcher, I’ve used TabSite application and found it very good, but every business likes to see its own tab icon, which is available on TabSite but through paid plans.

  • Favorite applications:

    I like Involver’s Twitter & YouTube.

    Like the Networked Blogs.

Really love the ability to make custom tabs via Static HTML or other free options!! :)

(Did you say I had to pick only one?)  :D

  • We used Fotobabble for the first time this year.  It was free at first, but now there is a low monthly cost.  It is an interesting way to engage people and worth the cost.  They worked with us to get it set up.  You can see an example on our Facebook page.

  • Normally we build our own, however, I do enjoy WildfireApp.  It’s been reliable, simple and successful for multiple clients and campaigns.

  • @bradfordshimp and @andrea-vahl It’s great to hear about all of the free options out there. As an employee of a PBS station that doesn’t have much in the budget for FB marketing, it’s nice to know we have a chance to stay in the game!

Is ShortStack simple in regards to set-up or is it majorly technical?

  • I use lots of apps and teach a workshop covering this.  Basically, if you’re willing to spend $10/month you can have an incredible, highly interactive Facebook page. Many of my clients spend thousands of dollars on a website and can’t tell you who visits it, so I tell ‘em, spend $120 and get a lot more! Here are my favs:

Involver, the MailChimp app, Easy Tab Creator (3 free pages with a lot of functionality), Wildfire’s iFrames for apps (for free fangate), Pagemodo, the Wufoo app, Scribd (for uploading pdfs), Wix for Facebook pages create awesome flash pages, Facebook Payvment, and of course, I love Facebook Check-in Deals

  • I would agree with @rich-brooks on Networked Blogs but another great app, and this is for contests is Wildfire. It’s easy to use, cheaper than most, and helps you implement Facebook contests within the FB guidelines.

  • I love Booshaka.  I use it for several of my clients.  It keeps track of your top fans. My clients then send out special things to them like gifts, coupons, etc.

IWIPA is another tool that I use for creating minisites for my clients.

Wildfire is my favorite for Contests, however, I am giving Rafflecopter a try.  Not as visually appealing but some cool capabilities for engagement.

  • This discussion is incredibly helpful.  Thanks to everyone who posted.  @asearfoss I can see why you like Fotobabble.  Your page is beautiful.

  • The two I use all the time are Networked Blogs and Static HTML iframe.  I use the iframe app for all of my welcome pages.

  • Thank you, @swrightboucher.  :)   We really had fun setting up this campaign this year.  If you ever want a contact there, please let me know.  It’s amazing the different ways that other organizations have used this app on their Facebook page.

  • I use WireFireApp.com for Facebook contests and sweepstakes for Pet Depot. There is a cost involve but very cheap at the basic level.  During a 14 day sweepstakes for Pet Depot, we gain over 1000 leads and had 200 new likes.  The app also loads your sweepstakes or contests on an app on Facebook allowing your brand to get better exposure.

  • Thanks for the great suggestions.  Love this forum.

  • @andrea-vahl Thanks for sharing great application ! it looks awesome ! going to try it ASAP..

  • I’ve learned about a lot of cool apps from this site some of which have already been mentioned here. I love BandPage by Rootmusic. Although they position themselves toward musicians, the Pro App they have has some amazing features. It’s paid upgrade is only $20 for a year regardless of how many fans you have.Features anyone can use - - Reveal Tab - Player that doubles as audio and/or video player - Require people to like the page or provide email before they can stream or download from the player. - Export emails - Easy GUI - Display Twitter Feed on the one tab - Photo and Video Galleries on the same tab - Rename the tab - No coding

  • I really LIKE the Wix Facebook Page Application. It’s free which is always a good thing and not so difficult to use and it has some great features and special affects:)

  • I love Shortstack for building custom tabs.  I built a custom welcome tab today for a client’s Business page using Shortstack.  He is thrilled.  I’ve used many Facebook apps for customizing pages and Shortstack is my fav..

  • Has anyone used the services of North Social? http://northsocial.com

I appreciate the conversations being shared.

    Respectfully,

    Bruce

  • I’m a huge fan of customized hand coded pages that rise above the cookie cutter solutions you run across Facebook.
If you are looking for an out of the box solution, I would have to recommend TabPress.

  • Thanks everyone for your input. Now, could we get a comprehensive list now for best freebies and then the best “bang for the buck” paid apps? Thanks!

  • I hope this isn’t spammy but my business partner has written a few apps that I like very much. I’m using them on my fanpage and also had a hand in creating them… We made free and paid versions. Each one is different than others in the same category and I would love to get feedback from the community so we can make them better or to even create new ones that you all think are missing from the landscape…We currently have a Twitter App, Contact Form App and Fangate App. We also have a YouTube App that isn’t publicly available and are working on a Sweepstakes App.My page is http://Facebook.com/Miguel.CurreyI didn’t really have any good ideas for the welcome/Fangate page so don’t judge me too harshly :)

  • There are quite a few apps that I use for different customers:-

    1. Fan of the week app is really good and FREE!2. Frequently Asked Questions app is also free3. LinkedIn company profile 4. Show your last 5 tweets in a stream.5. A proper contact page.6. Link to your YouTube videos.

Wildfire http://www.wildfireapp.com have a whole range off free and paid for apps – from competitions to ecommerce shopping apps.

  • I recently started using Top Fans. I like that you can recognize people that contribute through posts, comments and likes on your Page. Nice concept.

  • @andrea-vahl, love fbml iframe (a good alternate to static fbml), networked blogs, fb2tweet, contactme, mailchimp etc.

  • @charlynshelton-socialmediainterpreter I have had real problems getting the twitter app to work on my page. It is maybe just one of these things I will just have to persevere with. Anyone else had a similar problem?

  • @chatmarketing Use the Twitter Feed app by Involver.

  • This app is focused towards businesses that experience high foot traffic and do business in person face to face.http://apps.facebook.com/localpromos/?ref=tsIf you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.

  • I’ve been using Social Stage quite a lot lately because it seems to have more flexibility to customize more towards your business and industry and have some really powerful Facebook Apps

  • What a wonderful group of brilliant masterminds!!  Thanks for sharing…all very helpful!

  • Hi @brankicaunderwood, @andrea-vahl, @timsouthernwood and @waelalhusseini and everybody! It’s nice to hear that you are talking about apps because me and my friends create a promotion-app builder for Facebook.

We have a template what you can fill out, upload pictures, pick winners, etc. The good point is, that it has a very good intergration with your website and you can run the promotion in any language. (That’s our FB page: https://www.facebook.com/antavo
We are in beta, everything is free, every feedback is welcome! :) )

  • @andrea-vahl My apps for my page are: Payvment for the store, Shortstack for the Welcome page, Reviews for the reviews of our comic book/game, Forum for Pages for our story forum tab we just started. It’s going to be for fans to talk about the story of our comic book.We also used Shortstack for our Shadowlines Wiki page :)

  • @brankicaunderwood, @andrea-vahl, @timsouthernwood and @waelalhusseiniI’m surprised nobody has suggested http://apps.tradablebits.com/I like that they are from the same company so that the design is not all over the place for the different tabs. I also just installed http://www.livechatinc.com/product/livechat-for-windows/.A bit messy to install and there no tutorial but of of course there’s LiveChat with LiveChat customer service. :)

  • As a nonprofit I really appreciate the Causes App, which integrates our various causes with our Facebook pages; and Networked Blogs.

  • At present I use Iframe for Rafflecopter for my giveaweays and Pagemondo for welcome up. I’m still researching.

  • Thanks for all the resources. There are resources here that people have verified, so helpful for we newbies.
