What Facebook Pages do IT industry professionals Like? (10 posts)

  • I’m working with an IT company to help them build their Facebook presence. I’m interested in learning which specific brand pages professionals within the IT industry are most engaged with, and what types of updates you find most interesting.

Please share the name of the page and a link to it, if possible.

  • I don’t know if this will help you or not, @LauraChristianson, but I try to keep it simple and fast for people who have slow internet connections.

As examples, here’s my web page and Facebook business page.

Personally, I don’t like a lot of movement on a page, as I find it distracting. However, if it’s more like a short introduction to the page, it’d be ok. But I wouldn’t do that to anyone I was trying to target my business to. :)

    Good luck!

  • @laurachristianson i am too an IT Professional working in areas of web development, design and SEO and social media marketing. Personally, being in IT i’d love to have feeds from pages like Google, Gmail, YouTube…etc. Generally, pages from Google, Microsoft, Apple technologies are what IT Professionals like.

  • I agree with  @moinshaikh.

In this area Microsoft, google, facebook, … stories are interesting. Try giving them fresh interesting news!

Maybe you can try to make litle “conflict” with apple v.s. microsoft :) Or something like that. You will get a lot of commnets.

    Hey guys,

Thanks so much for sharing those tips and links. I’ll definitely check them out.  I am not an IT person, but rather, a ghost writer, so I need to familiarize myself with the types of things IT pros are interested in, the questions they want answered, and the topics they want to learn about.

Keep the ideas coming — I’m soaking it all in like a sponge.

You said: Maybe you can try to make litle “conflict” with apple v.s. microsoft :)Or something like that. You will get a lot of commnets.

That certainly would result in a lot of comments!  Although, I strongly doubt I’ll be doing anything along those lines, as one of the companies you mentioned is a client of the company I’m working with!

  • @laurachristianson for result you need make sparklings :) Maybe you can try leed this conflict in direction which will make your partner’s client better ;)

  •   I am an IT professional. If I have a license to a product, then I follow its page. If I am even thinking of buying a product, I follow its page. If there is a company I do business with, I follow their page and I make it almost a ‘to do’ to be supportive and post comments on their posts and pictures. I set up lists of these different pages that I am following for business reasons, so if I have 10 – 25 minutes ‘free’ I can quickly pull the list up and start commenting. I even go the extra step of following the list on my personal profile (no list on biz pages yet – Sigh!) and then logging in as the biz profile to do my posting. I find that many (not all) recognize me after a while and even follow me back. So I am building my business’s real influence and contacts through doing this. I also follow my customers pages… they certainly know me and appreciate any comments they get! It is a great way to build good will and brand awareness.
