Viral App (7 posts)

  • Working on an app that may have some viral potential. It runs a giveaway contest across a potential broad spectrum of pages. Page owners basically become a part of the contest “Collective” and can offer a big ticket item to encourage likes.

I am vested in the prize cost and development although we plan to offer premium placement within the app once it gains some traction. Here is the link to get an idea of how it works(comments welcome):

We also plan to replicate it in the future to cater to different genres.

    Happy New Year to all!

  • So is there one prize for many pages?  @mtheory  Do the Pages participate in the cost of the prize?

My only concern with giving away a big screen tv on a page that has nothing to do with the TV business is that you will have a lot of people who just Like your page to win the TV and won’t care about your business.

  • “Visit the pages below” concerns me, it seems that it would “dilute” not drive traffic

  • @andrea-vahl I figured the TV would be a good “generic” prize to work with at first. I plan on creating others that will run at different times and be catered to different genres. I am vested in the prize cost and development although we plan to offer premium placement within the app once it gains some traction.

@mitch-rezmanIf If the app is on your page and creating a “like”, they are already there. Not sure how this would dilute your traffic. It would most certainly drive traffic to your page if you are one of the linked pages. It’s all about connecting and networking pages.

The page links will be offered once the app has gained some exposure.

  • then I’m confused aren’t you giving the end user multiple pages to click as implied by “Visit the pages below”? and even if that were not the case I’m running my first sweep with woobox which offers the entrant an additional entry for liking the vendors page – for doing that the vendor whose product I’m giving away gave us a “featured”  placement on their fan page which has really helped gain traction – will your app have any “cross promotion” feature like that?

  • @mitch-rezman

The concept could defiantly evolve to work in cross promotions. I wanted to create a way for pages to network rather use just a single “page-specific” app. Also note that there is no “App access” required to put the app on a page or enter the contest. This is becoming more and more of an issue in regards to privacy on Facebook.

By the way, nice page Mitch.

  • Thank you Mark – I’m interested in the concept because I run 3 pages 2 of which need a steroid injection. I may test it on those 2 pages – thanx
