Video on facebook (5 posts)

  • How do I post a video onto a facebook page that will play within facebook, instead of just posting a link to the video?  Any instruction would be greatly appreciated.

  • @mgoes

    Hi Michael,

You can use apps like http://www.involver.com/applications/ to install your YouTube Channel as a tab.  It will automatically post new video uploads to your feed.

Or you can upload the video directly to Facebook.  You can do this while on your page, go where you enter your status update and there are a few different options including “Status”, “Photo/Video” and “Event, Milestone +”.  Click the “Photo/Video” option.  Click “Upload Photo/Video”.  There will be a big open box for you to write something about the video and below it will be “Browse”.  Click “Browse”, find the video you want to upload and then click “Post”.

  • @mgoes I used the Video posting within facebook in the past. Another club member was having issues uploading videos recently (and I haven’t loaded one in a while) but when you click on the expanded area of tabs Videos should come up as an option. You can then upload the video (which can take a while) and it plays from within Facebook.
There is always the option Nichole mentioned of using a 3rd party app as well.

  • @mgoes are you looking at literally posting in from youtube or vimeo or uploading one or creating a tab to view all videos?

  • Alright ladies, it was a success!

Yes, @Karen Black,, Thank you.  I may want to install an app to hold all videos in one spot.  I’ll take a look at Involver as Nichole suggested.  Today, I just wanted to learn how to download and post directly on to my page from YouTube.  It was pretty straight forward.  I used the MP4 format and facebook seems to play nice with that one.  I haven’t tried to download and post any videos from Vimeo yet, so if you’ve got any helpful tips, I’d appreciate learning them.

I did come across a video that I tried to download but I was presented with an error message stating that the format was not supported.  So… if you happen to know of any download programs for Mac that accept all file formats, I’d be interested to hear about them.

Thank you so much @Alexandra Briggs and @Nichole Schiecht.  You’ve saved me a lot of time.  I hope I can return the favor sometime.

    Kind regards,
    Michael
