Using Facebook for Bing Organic SEO (5 posts)

  • One of my goals for 2013 is to boost organic traffic from Bing. We get about 30% of all our eCommerce website traffic from Google organic but less than 5% from Bing. This article from Search Engine Watch - Bing Social Search: 4 Keys to Higher Organic Click-Through Rates http://goo.gl/awuTp dovetails with everything I’ve read & confirms what I suspect yet in 3 years the 5% traffic from Bing has remained consistent  while our fan page has grown from 0 – almost 12,000 fans. A real disconnect. Has anyone been able to connect the lines between Facebook and Bing organic growth?

That’s a great question, but I’m going to send it over to @andrea-vahl and the Facebook club, where you’re more likely to get a better response.

  • Thank you @Rich Brooks. This must be a real hot potato:-)  the topic got deleted by the moderator in the Search Engine Land group on LinkedIn. For anyone dialing into this subject some brief research led me to sign up for http://www.quora.com which does in fact populate Bing’s right global column at the bottom. It’s interesting putting in keywords into Bing and seeing Facebook friends & personalities pop up on the right (experts related to the search term). I answered about 20 questions on quora yesterday for our vertical and just got an email with a new question. We’ll see how much content it takes to move the needle on Bing. My goal is to have my FB profile populate Bings right colum as an “expert” for relevant keywords – stay tuned

  • Hmmm this is the first I’ve heard of that @mitch-rezman  I don’t use Bing and get almost zero traffic from Bing so I don’t pay attention to it.  But it does seem like you should be getting more traffic from Bing if you have that many likes.  But I know Bing’s usage has steadily declined over the last year too.

Anyone else watch their traffic from Bing and correlate anything with Facebook?
