Unable to update ”About” section (9 posts)

  • Hi all … I could use some assistance / advice. 

    I am an admin on a fan page and for several days have been unable to update and save new correct information about the business. 

    I have tried Safari, Firefox, Opera and Chrome and have not been able to save changes. 

    Other fan pages have been difficult to save new basic information as well but eventually after multiple tries I am able to save the updated information.

    Is anyone else experiencing these same difficulties? The client is unhappy and frustrated that their fan page doesn’t have the updated information and to be honest so am I.

  • I haven’t tried it in the last couple days, @robinoshaughnessy but I did have similar problems but like you experience with the other pages, after a little bit I was able to get it to save.  Is the Page a Place page or a regular page?  

    Can one of the other admins update it?  I would suggest different browsers but sounds like that doesn’t work.  Hmm – anyone else have any ideas?

    It’s currently labeled a product / service page. 

    i haven’t asked if any of the other admins can update it. might pop into the clients office and see if i could have someone else try it.

    this has been going on for a week.

  • Hi, There is no issue with Facebook ‘about us’ fields.You can always add a new tab /app “about us” in most cases it is a free app regardseli

    Hi Robin,

    I had a similar problem a few weeks ago.  Are you trying to update it from your Facebook page?  I mean clicking the about section and editing the fields?  That didn’t work for me.  I had to go into the edit page > basic information tab and edit it there.  Hope that helps!

    yes, i have tried updating from both the About section and from the basic information tab. 

    i am still unable to save changes by either route.

    You can try submitting the issue there however, they don’t reply to many of the reports so you’ll have to keep trying.

  • Hi Robin,

    I had this problem several times when trying to update my page as well. I found the best solution to the problem was to copy whatever I was going to write before I clicked the update/save button. Then if it worked right away then perfect, but I found that if I closed out all of my tabs that I had running and restarted my browser and went to Facebook it saved for me every time (and you save time if you copied your text before shutting everything down). Just have to have to some patience with doing that.
