”Twitter Follow” Exchange (27 posts)

  • The “Facebook Like” Exchange was received so well, I thought I’d start a “Twitter Follow” Exchange.

I’ll follow you, if you follow me:

  • Okay, I’ll bite! lol  I followed you; here’s my url:  https://twitter.com/#!/jayvee4you

  • @jeaninevecchiarelli

    Right back at you!

  • you really wouldn’t want to follow me ;-)

  • @warrenveach I usually check Twitter accounts when reviewing friend notifications and will follow if the tweets fit my profile. That said, here are my two handles:

Personal: @KC_KreativeWork: @ahaa (just started working with this one as of Jan. 3rd)

  • @spudty

And just why is that Glyn?

  • @kc_kreative

Found you Kristy, but I couldn’t find the @ahaa…

  • @warrenveach Interesting. I did the Twitter search @ahaa and the tweets came up. Also, I am following so you could find it nearer the top of my following list. Here’s the association website  http://ahaa.org/ and the Twitter button is at the top.

  • I have followed all! Here’s my Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/morganbarnhart

There should be a Twitter club. ;)

  • @warrenveach

well I tweet has my business persona so if you are into graffiti, clothing and music such as dubstep, reggae and uk hip hop with the odd rant, bitch and profanity thrown in by all means add me ;-)

  • @kc_kreative

Ok, I did see that when I did my search, I just didn’t realize that was what I was looking for.

    Now following!

  • @spudty

Well hey, who doesn’t need the occasional “dubstep, reggae and uk hip hop with the odd rant, bitch and profanity” thrown into their day?

I’ll follow just to see what dubstep and uk hip hop are!

  • @morganbarnhart

Us Texans gotta stay connected, following!

  • @warrenveach Thanks for following my work account too. Let me know if any re-tweets don’t seem to fit. I will be creating fresh content once we announce our annual conference (May 2-4), 2012 webinar series and the new awards program (plus the mostly monthly e-newsletter, Conexion).

  • @kc_kreative

Will do. Twitter isn’t my strong suit, but I am becoming more active on there.

  • Hi I have follower everyone, looking forward to your tweets!!You can find me at:http://twitter.com/#!/GBreward

  • @gbreward

Thanks Gregg! Looking forward to tweedin’ what you are tweetin’…

  • You know numbers mean nothing if there is no engagement, right?
This being said, besides the vanity, what plus do you get from a follow exchange? Influencial ussers check your account before following you. Seeing there is no strategy behind the list of the persons you follow will make you lose their follow (and this will cost you more if you are thinking at the Klout score). Even more, if the persons you follow are not from your field of interest, you will only end up with a flooded twitter timeline. The post you put will also not get RT or clicked if you do not post topics of interest to the person you exchanged follows with.
Now, I know this is a social media club, and it is more likely the people you follow in an exchange here are more likely to post something of interest to you, but still… this has the after-taste of a “black hat” aproach.
My advice: stick to white hat and you will get much better results if done properly.
    Have a great day!

  • @gabriel

    Hey Gabriel,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the subject.

I’ll be the first to admit, that I am less knowledgeable about twitter than probably 95% of the twits on here and that I have a LOT to learn.

As I’ve mentioned in other threads, my purpose here on SME is to gain knowledge about social media and all its applications as my company is now wanting to gain exposure through the viral nature of the media.

I appreciate comments such as yours because they help me understand the behind-the-scenes workings of things like twitter,

Please feel free to share any other insight you may have.

  • @warrenveach Glad my post didn’t bother you :)

I am, by nno means, no social media veteran either. But those are my thoughts on this subject. In any case, I think a Twitter follow exchange is less harmfull then a Facebook like exchange.

Maybe some other oppinions on this matter? Would be great to see other take on this matter.
