Turning Facebook Fans into customers (17 posts)

  • How do you convert Facebook fans into loyal customers? I am beginning to wonder whether they just want the free stuff (competitions)… after all, everybody loves the free stuff!  Does anyone have any tips or tricks? I already do special offers, discounts etc. What else could I be doing to generate maximum sales or do you think Facebook is more of an awareness tool and sales are second to that?

    Let me know your thoughts!

    Thanks,

    Fiona :)

  • Hi Fiona,Maybe you could provide a link to the facebook page so we can better understand the nature of your product, competitions etc?If its somewhere on your profile, forgive me. Its my first day on here :)

  • who is  buying w hat you are selling?  what are they paying?   where are they  buying it..whats  the  competition  doing..who is making money  doing what you are trying to do…….. thats what i would  be  asking….. i think it has to start with understanding  your  customers/market   and what they want and what  they are  buying….  then  try  to fit into  that market….

    the only  time i  offer  free stuff   to  people is when  they are actually in the store   spending  money with me…if i  advertized  free stuff i believe i would  get   people just after  free stuff….when we have a big   valuable  drawing  at our events i never advertize it  to the public….  maybe   the  advice about  coupons  , discounts and  freebies  isnt   good  for  everyone…we  sure dont  do it at the start of the   connection with our   buyers…we do it  a lot    farther into the   connection…like laginappe, and other informal ways.. etc…

    @fiona i would look at  your  actual product….or  at  how  your  market  actually works..

  • it’s important to link to your website for full sale features

    @fiona

  • Hi,

    Thanks for all the input! Sorry, I wasn’t very clear before. I work in beauty and skin care and the facebook page is http://www.facebook.com/muraduk. I already post offers exclusive to Facebook to generate sales, and do competitions which are great for generating a buzz around the brand, getting new fans, collecting data and give people a chance to try the product. This has been great and there has been some really good feedback. I try to be as informative and engaging as possible with my posts, I post lots of links back to the website too. I was just wondering if there is anything else I could be doing? Is there anything you do that you think really works? What have you learned?

    Any advise would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Fiona :)

  • @fiona looks like you have a  great  group of  followers!!!

     i  woUld put a LOT  MORE PICTURES ON….that  would  be   easy and   make  your page  look    a lot prettier….  and high light some of  them…,  that makes the picture go across the page… just  for instance, when you  have a quote about positive or happy   get a  great picture to go with it with  people  smiling….

    my  customers have liked   having their photos on our page, i always get permission  of  course….

    lucky, your  customers  are probably  heavy  facebook  users…. like mine…i look at my page a s a  BIG  BILLBOARD  for the store…

  • Hi @annfurnivall you are so right, I really do need a lot more pictures. I had a look at your page and it’s so bright and colourful. A big billboard, I love that! Such a great way to look at a Facebook page!

    Thank you for your advice :)

  • great….  and  we all love/need  skin care tips…..

  • @fiona You have gotten some great advice here. I also use free to build an audience. The trick is to have products at various price points so people can jump in where they feel comfortable. Good luck!

  • I think that’s good advice, @annfurnivall – not to offer too many freebies.  Then people only expect that from you.  You need to sell too.

    Do you also have an e-mail list of people @fiona?  I think using a combination of the e-mail list for specials or just product features and the Facebook page can be very powerful!

  • Thank you @charlene-kingston Good idea with the various price points! What is free to build an audience? Could you provide me a link?

     Hi @andrea-vahl yes we have an email list of people which is very successful but not sure how to make that work with Facebook? I have tried exclusive Facebook deals and people have clicked on the post, liked the post, commented on the post and clicked on the link but no one used the code. Any ideas? I have used deals which are on the email too but it’s hard to track which sales have come from the email and which from Facebook. Any tips to make these work together?

  • we just  do them  both, email  like we always  did  and now  facebook…and have  some links  back and  forth..and  with our  website too……but mainly we  let them  both   just  go  their natural  ways.we do a monthly  email  and ones for our  events   and we do   1 or 2 posts  a  day   on  facebook…….  for us, we  advertize  so many  ways, plus  good  word of  mouth,   so  i  cant  worry too much about  total proof  of  where  they   come  from..but we dont sell online…

    .they  thank  me  for the emails and  say they like the facebook…so im  thinking it  works  pretty well…

    @fiona

  • How about some selling directly from the Facebook page via eCommerce integration? Have you tried that? Also, I don’t see social logins or social bookmarking on your shopping site. I would suggest looking at your competition and what they are doing, such as SkinCareRX. You can see that on their website they have social bookmarking, reviews and quick checkouts. Your eCommerce platform has a lot to do with your success in social media as does your SMM strategy.

  • Facebook and other social media sites should be used to build relationships with potential customers——not for direct sales. People do business with people they know and trust – use FB to build this trust.  Postings should direct customers to your website where they can make their purchases.  Check out the feature article article in this recent newsletter  http://conta.cc/IX6eYn to see how this works.

  • I know people might criticize me here but I would suggest putting a highlighted post as a call to action. The call to action can either be to sign up for a newsletter and receive a discount or to purchase a product at a discounted rate.

    Sometimes a customer or fan actually wants the product right now. Thus having a like to buy it would be helpful. Just my opinion.

  • @virgilvergara I do the same thing when we run a special sale. If it is a one day promotion I highlight it but if it is running multiple days I will tag it to stay highlighted for longer.
