Tracking Facebook Followers (5 posts)

  • Do any of you have a specific strategy you use to track your Facebook followers? Do you have notations in an outside CRM system to know which customers are actually engaged? I am wanting to find an effective way to filter through the likes to know those who are actually potential inquiries/prospects and those that are simple “serial likers.” Part of my CRM strategy is to find a way of tracking social media engagement across our prospect pool and I am wondering if anyone else has done this and has suggestions.

  • @alexandrabriggs I have started doing this, Alexandra.

I used Google spreadsheets (you could use Excel) to keep a list of names that I interact with. This helps me remember where I chatted to them and something about what they like and are into, in case I come across something that might interest them.

I have also started keeping track of Liker and Commenters for one of my clients. I’m doing this as I want to create a network with these people at a later date. It’s a great idea!

Again, I just use a spreadsheet with their names, whether they like or comment, what they comment on and how often.

This also helps me target future posts as well.

    Cheers,Russ

  • @russellallert Thank you, that is a helpful tip! Do you use any Relationship Management software or platforms? I am thinking of adding this information when we switch over to our new platform but I am trying to figure out what information would be most effective.

Do you send specific messaging tagging commenters later on?

  • hey  @alexandrabriggs  @russellallert one of the businesses i work with has a detailed CRM system where they track customer frequency (gaming industry where members have to swipe into the business) we are currently starting to incorporate the social element (currently 100,000 known customers)
We are doing this by running votes and contests on a tab (playing by the rules!) but a mandatory field is the customer membership number (lucky for that industry such a thing exists)

If you do not have that then russells suggestion is a good one, however if you want some software to do it i currently use meltwater buzz, they were until recently only a “social listening” company however they have recently developed a social management part to their software, it is very impressive and has the capability to track comments, sentiment, not only that see how influential (ala Klout) that person is and also post management software.  It is the best of its kind (and before you ask i am not on commission! ha)

The best feature for me is that it has exportable csv files that can be merged with any CRM system…

    Hope this helps

  • @stevencole Thank you so much for the insight! I am actually hoping to find integration though exportable csv files for our new CRM system that I will have a section specific to social media and lifecycle efforts for!
