Top 10 Facebook Apps for Fan Engagement (16 posts)

  • OK, so sometimes I’m a little nutty and don’t utilize the most obvious source of information.  In this instance, it’s Social Media Examiner’s own blogs.  Here’s a great post with apps that I think may be worth trying . . . .

Top 10 Apps for Fan Engagement

    App Summary:
#1: Fan of the Week for Pages
    #2: Booshaka
    #3: NetworkedBlogs
    #4: Post Planner
    #5: YouTube
    #6: Livestream
    #7: ContactMe
    #8: Constant Contact
    #9: Scribd for Pages
    #10: Ecwid

If you’ve used any of the apps mentioned in the article, please tell me what you thought (think) of them.  Did they help increase participation on your page?  Were they easy to manage?  Did you use them on one page or multiple pages?

  • @dedimason I’ve found that just b/c they are the top apps, doesn’t mean the list applies to ever business… Like for my company we don’t need the LiveStream, or Post Planner, but I have clients who pretty much can’t go without them.

  • @devanianjali  ~ I agree that they won’t all do my current pages any good (some will, some won’t) . . . but for the branding business start up that I have, it would be good to know what people think about the different apps because you never know just what my clients’ needs may be.

  • Thank you for sharing this! I truly believe these apps are awesome and they make any Business Fan Page more fun and unique since each Business Page is different. I use: Fan of the Week for Page, YouTube and Constant Contact. They work great for my two fan pages.

Another one I like a lot is “Tradable Bits” which allows you to customize your very own “Welcome Tab” “Twitter” “RSS” “Coupon Codes” “Poll” and more! https://apps.tradablebits.com/?track_source=banner&fb_page_id=89932014166

    Hope it helps!

  • Exactly @devanianjali – it’s hard to make a top 10 list that applies to every business!  And thanks for the shoutout on my article @dedimason!  Thanks for sharing the Tradable Bits app  @systaley – always good to find some new ones!

  • @systaley ~ Thanks for sharing that!  I’ll have to check it out.  I personally just started using Shortstack which has a lot of widgets to make different tabs.  Right now I’m running a trial contest with it and like it pretty well :)

    @andrea-vahl ~ no problem!  Was a great article :)

  • This is another one I see quite often on some FB Pages: http://www.fanbridge.com/tour/  (look the Fan page of “Kaskade“)

I don’t particular use this one, it may not apply to all business, but thought it was worth sharing it.  There are SO many businesses that offer this kind of services (apps/software to customize your own FB page) thta it can get overwhelming…

Good luck and let me know if you have any questions using the “Tradable Bits” I do use that one for both of my pages and so far it’s been great.  Happy Sunday Everyone!

  • @systaley ~ it is very worthy of mentioning.  We never know when we’ll need a certain kind of app!  Need to hook my cousin up with that one for his band . . . Thanks!

  • I’ve used ContactMe on many pages and worked pretty well. Youtube was also used quite a lot. But frankly that about it..+ custom welcome pages.

I try and keep it simple – at least in the beginning when the community can be managed more easily and interactive in person.

  • I put Booshaka on my page with the intent of increasing engagement. I use the free version, but made my own contest using their leaderboard. I installed it, waited a couple of days and then announced a monthly prize for the “Top Fan.” I logged in a couple of hours later and had over 100 notifications for my page whereas I usually have one or two a day. I’m in the second month or using it, but it has had two excellent effects:

    1) it has certainly encouraged people to engage with the page through likes, shares and posts

    2) it has helped me single out my most enthusiastic fans are and I’ll be able to, hopefully, recruit them as brand evangelists.

  • @ericbanister Thanks for sharing your info about Booshaka and how it’s worked for you. We haven’t implemented any contests yet but I like how you organized yours and when we’re ready this information will be really helpful to us. We are looking to increase fan engagement and your results are just what we’d be hoping for. Again, thanks.

  • Somebody shared this link on my post earlier showing different pages/apps you can use for your page: http://involver.com/applications/

  • Thanks so much @ericbanister for sharing that information. It sounds like I should better check that out. I’m trying to  figure out a way to get my fans more engage with my pages but they may be too shy J   I’m also starting to think that it may have to do with some factors like geographic, where your services or business is (beach town vs a big city).

I was talking to a colleague and they use a FB app called NorthSocial They are willing to pay the monthly fee because they focus more on getting more FB fans than collecting emails for email marketing campaigns… If that’s your case this app allows you to customize any kind of tab you want on your FB page.  I may explore it but in my market I don’t think it will be worth to pay the monthly fee + my email marketing campaigns. I sent a survey to my all my customers asking them to select one of many options on how they get our “News & Updates” more than 60% say through our weekly email.  But we know that every business is different, therefore what may work for me may not work for you.

@mattanderson – I have heard about that one and it’s seems to be very good too!  So many options :) Keep up the good work on FB pages everyone!

  • On the one hand, it’s so great that there are so many options out there to choose from on the other hand, it’s a full time job just getting acquainted and familiarized with these tools. A lot of great stuff in here, thanks!

  • Question: does anyone know a FB app directly related to iPhone and Android? I want to create a customized tab for our mobile app on Android market and iPhone store by having two tabs on one of my pages names “Android” and “iPhone” and when my fans click on it, it takes them to the direct link to download the app…

Thank you in advance for the help, tips and suggestions. Happy Friday.
