thumbs down (9 posts)

  • imho…i think  thumbs  down will  be  used  in a hurtful  way or  be  taken as used in a hurtful  way  or over used  and   hurt  the  forum….its kind of   sorority like, imho….will it  help   lively discussions?  do we  realy want  judged on   each post?   it  feels  kind of  ikky…

i like  thumbs up a lot…sometimes i  want to  say OH  YES on a post…,   but dont like to  reengage the  poster ….its nice   on  facebook….

  • @annfurnivall  Well said Ann!  I love the “thumbs up” feature as it allows me to tell the poster I appreciate their comment even when I don’t have time to post myself.  However, I do not see me using the “thumbs down” at all.  As I wrote in a post on this in the Small Business forum, I believe “if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all”!

  • @annfurnivall @kimkline Agree with both of you guys, and for sure, this will be the feeling of all of our those members who contribute here and help others. But on the other hand, there’s nothing wrong in starting something new. If that’s not useful or is being used in negative manner, admins can remove this feature. :)

  • @annfurnivall

Ann – It is used a spam and abuse control.  I’d give a shot and see how it works out

  • I have to go along with the views of a good friend of mine and very active social media maven.  If you can’t be positive, constructive, educational and supportive, step away the computer (or smartphone or tablet, etc.)

  • @mike-stelzner  Do have to agree that spam, etc. is annoying.  However, I usually just do not respond to any of those posts and hope that others won’t either.  I figure this takes the steam out of posting like that and would discourage others from doing the same as they are not getting the response they want.

  • It’s definitely worth seeing how it does, and experiment.

  • I’m not sure how it might best be used or if it even presents the risk of being abused by some.  However, I would think/hope it might encourage some people to first search for a subject before they start a new thread on something that has been already been addressed, maybe even within a short period of time.

I receive notices of each new topic, on the chance it might be something I have myself wondered about or now hope to learn from.  However, I must say, sometimes I consider opting out of that feature because some days some people start some threads that simply leave me wondering…  Why??

  • I think most people will not use the thumbs down feature unless it’s for spam purposes. Most of us are here to connect and contribute.
