The POWER of facebook (20 posts)

  • How many of you did already try this app?

What do you think about this power?

  • What does it do  @leopoldpanovi?  I don’t allow any apps that I don’t know anything about (despite it saying it doesn’t do anything to my profile, I still don’t allow)

  • This app is one of the most visited apps of all times. It’s purpose is to show what’s the power of facebook – what can anyone get out of your profile.

And it’s also show the new thing – social video ;) It’s worth accepting!

  • I have used this, @leopoldpanovi

It’s great but I would place a warning on it that it’s not for the faint-hearted. If you don’t like horror movies, then DO NOT DO THIS as it will give you nightmares.

As Leopold states it really showcases what info you are giving out on Facebook in a novel way but it could scare a few folks here. You have been warned. :)

    Cheers
    Russ

  • @leopoldpanovi @russellallert Ok that was EXTREMELY creepy.  But what that does is highlight what you are making public.  I saw a picture of my kids in there that I did not know was public so the good thing about that was I went through all my pictures again to verify that none of my pictures with my kids in it was public.  People have to know what they are sharing and what people can see.

  • @russellallert I forgot to tell that it can be creapy for some of you :) I hope nobody gets scared.

@andrea-vahl that app show what can be done! Not in the scary way but social. I think in year 2012 we will se many of thoose videos.

  • The app froze when I just tried to do it but based on reading through your comments,  @leopoldpanovi @andrea-vahl @russellallert I think I have a general idea of what the app would do and now I am creeped out. Upon the launch of timelines I was already wary of the information Facebook has on me from back in 2005 to the present on my personal account! It is incredible to me the overall power of social media and how everything has changed in recent years!

  • I’m going to give a spoiler alert, @alexandrabriggs just because I think it is a bit scary.  So the video of that guy is shown live but he looks like he’s looking at your profile (which is why the app needs access)   So he looks like he’s looking through your personal photos (which some of them may be public).  It’s an integration of live video and super-imposed with your profile info.  I think it’s just a great reminder of watching your privacy settings on Facebook – even tagged photos which is where my kids showed up.

I do think that these types of social videos are very compelling.

  • @andrea-vahl Thank you for hopefully lessening what could have been an extremely creepy nightmare! Privacy settings are something I have always tried to stay on top of with facebook (and the many updates and changes since I originally joined “thefacebook.com”) and this sounds like it would serve as a great reminder for a lot of people to watch their settings!

  • The other thing I suggest for anyone who has used this App or any other App that they want to remove after using it is to go into your Account Settings then Apps and remove access to any App you aren’t using.

  • @andrea-vahl That’s what I do and I am glad you shared that reminder Andrea! I frequently “double-check” the authorized applications on my page along with my privacy settings just to make sure there isn’t anything I don’t want shared or to have access!

  • Mashable did a write-up on this app a while back… http://mashable.com/2011/11/11/take-this-lolipop/  The incredible stats are almost as startling as the app itself!

  • That is amazing, @valissa!

  • Another semi-creepy but also kind of neat app…”If I die” Write up about it here: http://mashable.com/2012/01/06/if-i-die-facebook-app/?WT.mc_id=obinsite

What you think? Creepy or cool?

  • @alexandrabriggs Totally creepy, IMO! But I guess it’s no weirder than someone leaving a video to be played post-mortem

  • @leopoldpanovi @russellallert @andrea-vahl @alexandrabriggs Isn’t this one of the things Facebook was being sued for? Huge privacy invasion claims??

  • @sgsrecording facebook has problems because of privacy for a long time now. App only show what can be done :)

My famous qoute which on often teal people on my classes is that there are three kind of people on the world.

First one is the one who dosen’t aware that privacy is death. And they live happy life without any fear or others fealing.

The second one is the one who aware that privacy is death. And they pay a lot of attention and ne nerves to change that. But there are zero chances that they will make it.

In the third one are the people who know that privacy is death and that they can’t change a thing about it. But they can make some profit out of it.

  • @sgsrecording I don’t believe this could be included in any lawsuit. When activating the app the user grants all the permissions for profile viewing. The app isn’t owned by Facebook and they make that very clear. For any of the apps the user grants the permissions to the app to access whatever information is noted. This is why so many must be cautious when accepting or activating applications.

  • All of this is well and good, but HOW does it benefit you as a business owner?  Time is money…or at least an investment of some sort…how does the investment of time into this app benefit?  Thanks for your help!Charlyn

  • I wish that maniac has a nice trip… in my case, he must travel to Tortuga (I live in Italy).

And once there, he must look for the Hypnotoad from Futurama (I wish I was). :D

I don’t give away too many REAL infos in social networks… and all infos are as private as facebook allows.

Great app anyway, it was really entertaining

I just cannot decide if I should share it or not.

@charlynshelton-socialmediainterpreter maybe it’s simply digital art (so, you know, art for art’s sake) or maybe there’s a company behind that, in search for popularity in order to sell social media services in the future. Kinda viral marketing in that case, isn’t it? (I didn’t try to check it)
