Tagging (7 posts)

  • I’m trying to ask a specific person a question on our fan page, but it won’t let me tag her in the status update. Is it possible to tag someone from a business page? Is there another way to draw their attention specifically to that know post?

  • Good question. I’ve tried the same thing but it seems to be hiding.

  • Hmmm, so when you start typing your post, there isn’t a little graphic in the bottom left of a person with a plus sign?

I work with our customers in a closed group, and I know they have to be a member of the group in order to tag them in a post. Sometimes what I have done is find the person that you wanted to tag and send them a message asking them a question and get information that way.

  • You can’t tag individuals on a fan page. The only way I can think of drawing her attention to a post is comment on another post that she has contributed to previously. Messy I know.

  • @qactyler The answer  @mikecartmel provided is accurate. You are not able to tag or PM without the individual initiating the communication. If she commented on a post you can respond to her within the post or if she private messages you can respond to her that way.

  • @qactylerI have found a way around it, kinda … I write the post on my business page as my business page, then as my personal profile I tag the person in the comment section. Works like a breeze!

  • @qactyler It’s hard to do this because Facebook doesn’t want businesses reaching out to people. They want the communication to start on the people side of the equation.

This is why having an email list is an important business asset. Sometimes, you need to have a way outside of Facebook to reach out to your Facebook community.
