  • is anyone receiving an error message for these tabs – secure browsing is not supported https://www.facebook.com/BlackburnCollegeLibrary?v=app_215718571777191

  • Yep, I am Safina @safinaiqbal

Which app do you use for custom tabs? I guess it doesn’t support HTTPS.

Incidently, FBML is no longer supported by Facebook (for some time now). You should switch to iFrames

    Hope this helpsAlex

  • Here, read this :)

  • Does anyone know of a good tool where I could learn how to develop iFrames myself? I know that I can go to Pagemodo and have them do all the heavy lifting, but I’m not bad with computers, and would like to keep our pages brand consistent. Plus it would be a neat skill to learn! Any suggestions? I’m happy learning baby steps before I start running!

  • 1. Create app here
    https://developers.facebook.com/apps

    2. Point the urls to your secure server

    3. build your system

  • Looks like you need to host your page images on a secure server with an SSL certificate @safinaiqbal

Some places offer hosting for a small charge or you can purchase an SSL certificate for your site.

@jasonreilly  Left you a message about this tutorial in another thread too:  http://socialmouths.com/blog/2011/03/16/how-to-build-a-facebook-landing-page-with-iframes/

  • @andrea-vahl That is a valid tutorial although the dimensions for the pages are out of date and do not apply to the new Timeline :)

@jasonreilly You can also use Woobox (or a similar product) to build your custom tabs (or Apps) and it removes a lot of the hassle that is configuring everything by hand. You will still have to build the pages on HTML or create some images to display on the tabs though.

  • @safinaiqbal received that error. The easy solution may be what andrea suggested i.e. to host images on secured server.

  • @alexandrevicente Thank you for that tutorial! I wish I had found that and it so made the bookmark list! :)

I did do some checking at home, and I think that the problem is that our Business page doesn’t have a personal page attached. I have another page I work with, not related to Bellwether, and that one I got set up… but it required I use my personal profile to do it. Plus a credit card! Since our credit card info on our FB page is out of date, we’re going to update that, and then I need to get permission to link a personal account to the FB page – which will require IS.. :(

    Jason

  • @jasonreilly It was actually @andrea-vahl who sent you the tutorial :)

  • I didn’t get the credit card bit though. Where did you have to use it? Facebook Pages are free

  • Oh my mistake! I’m sorry @andrea-vahl I thought I had hit the right name! So embarrassing!

Credit Cards: We use Facebook’s ad promotions. Very heavily. And we had an active credit card, and then we let it expire because we had to reevaluate our campaign and determine if it was worth continuing. It was a big issue for a few months. Anyway, so the card is currently expired, and I think the card was being used for verification (you can use a credit card or a phone number). So we have to get the card back into place, and then link a personal account I believe.

    So much fun!

  • Oh right! It does sound like fun :) Good luck with that Jason :)
