SWF file editor (7 posts)

  • I would like to know a save and easy freeware to download to edit a swf file OR if there is an editor within MS7 or CS3.  Is swfmodify safe if I download it?

  • Is this something that has to do with Facebook,  @deereinhardt?  I’m not familiar with these types of files.

  • When people post a short video with an example of something they are doing that might not be a YouTube video, that is a .swf file.  I was trying to do a short tutorial on a how-to so that I can post it and need to cut something out of the middle of the recording.

  • @deereinhardt People can post that kind of stuff with youtube videos as well its not compulsory to do it with SWF.

If you have recorded any how-to video that you want to post on facebook let me know i will tell you how to do it.
What adobe saying about it:_________________________________________________________________The SWF format is a special compressed format designed for small file size and scalability. In order to maintain this file size a number of items inside your original Flash format are compressed into data that Flash cannot reimport. There are third party tools available that allow users to edit a rendered SWF to a certain degree, as well as remove the protection tags if an author has accidentally lost their work and need to reimport the SWF. These tools are not made by Macromedia, and carry no guarantees.  ——————————————————————————————————————–

  • @deereinhardt swf file is not editable, it is like a readymade product that is made from raw materials. You can do stuff with raw materials but can’t do anything with final product, right!

SWF is a shockwave flash file that is made up using flash animation, video etc in either adobe flash software or any other. to edit swf you need its source which is usually in .fla (flash) or flv (flash video). For more clarity, take example of a jpg image which is a final product made in photoshop. The source file of an image could be .psd which is made in photoshop, when you export final image it is .jpg !

  • Thanks @moinshaikh, I guess I will have to re-record it so that I can do it without the stuff in the middle I want to remove.

  • @deereinhardt, definitely.Happy to Help :)
