Sponsored Stories Guidance (6 posts)

  • Hey Everyone,

I am looking for some guidance on sponsored stories. I would love to know what you have spent per like, how large the target audience should be, what a good daily budget is, and any other suggestions. I have run some sponsored stories for various businesses and am not happy with one I am currently running.

Also, people always talk about the suggested daily budget, but I have never seen a suggestion for that. Am I alone?

I also am wondering if you can create a sponsored story without having to create an ad and add it on. I have been just creating ads and selecting the sponsored story option and then deleting the ad.

    All help is appreciated!

    Holly

  • Great questions @hollywade!  The way you are creating the sponsored story “only” ad is the way it is supposed to be done.

I have seen the per-fan price vary quite a bit depending on the industry.  The average low end that I see is 50 cents/Like.  Then it can go up from there (I’ve seen lower but that’s unusual).  If it’s not a “sexy” industry like the medical industry or something like that, it’s harder to get those likes.

Then the daily budget really depends on what you want to spend.  I always feel like $10 is an absolute minimum to get some traction and if people can’t afford $50/day then they shouldn’t spend it just because someone tells them they should.

  • @andrea-vahl, I really appreciate your response. I had likes costing less than $0.25 for one customer and am now helping a customer in the same industry with a slightly different focus and they are costing around $0.30. I am glad to find out that these are good numbers. I don’t hear many people talking about what likes cost for them, so I appreciate the info.

I have one more question, if someone has a small budget, would you recommend they increase their daily budget and decrease the length of the ad, or would you recommend they decrease their daily budget and increase the length of the ad?

I’m also wondering how long it is recommended to run a sponsored story.

    Thanks so much!

  • there might  be one negative in  sponsored  stories…. if  they appear in peoples  timeline its felt  as a big  negative  by some..

..why do that instead of   targeted ads  that  appear  on the  right hand side?   @hollywade

for that reason ,  i will be running   regular  ads  next time i need one, not sponsored stories…….

  • @annfurnivall, I’ve wondered that, but I don’t know how effective they are. They don’t seem very effective to me. Have you had good experience with them?

  • hard to say.when  you  have  your links   in lots of places like we do,   its  pretty hard to   tell for sure…i didnt  thnk it was too good….and  the  targeting  was hard  for us..

..i  probably see mostof the asds on  my timeline on the right hand side….rarely  care…lol

..we have a big  fan base  so i use  promoted posts instead….and hope their  friends  see  it…too…
