Something Special About Sharing (6 posts)

  • Under Timeline picture posts are the words LIKE, COMMENT and SHARE.

If I am on someone’s Timeline and I SHARE their picture I think it goes to my Timeline and my followers news feed – is that correct.

If one of my followers then clicks the LIKE on this picture that I have shared is the LIKE for me or for the page that the picture originated from.

If the LIKE is for the original page what is the benefit to me for sharing.

  • Yes, this is correct @david-easter . If you share someones picture, it appears on your timeline and your friends (or fans, if you share on your page) will see the picture. If your friends (or fans) like the picture, the like counts for you.

  • @david-easter hi david, the like is yours. It is also counted in your reach and the reach of the page/profile it originated from.

  • Claudia @claudiapoeckl thanks for answering that question. I was surprised I thought the LIKE would be for the originator.
Lydia @lydiamediavilla thank you as well. You said it also counted in the reach, what does that mean.

  • @david-easter – In your insights you’ll see “Reach”. Facebook defines that as the number of unique people who see your post. That post can reach people in three ways: (1) Organically- on their newsfeed or your timeline(2) virally – post is seen on a friend’s newsfeed(3)paid – through sponsored stories/ads.

I hope that helps. I know how confusing the insights can be.

  • I was wondering about “Unique Visits to Page”. Facebook says it’s the number of unique people visiting my page on each day during the specified time (@30 days).

So, my question is if it says on 10/10 140 unique people visited my page will they be counted again as a “unique visit” if they visit my page again on 10/15? Meaning they are ONLY unique on that day and NOT unique for that 30 day period.

Did I say I thought Facebook insights are confusing!?

    Thanks for any insight!
