Social Media Strategy for a Brewing Company (6 posts)

  • Hello Guys,

I run a startup just venturing into social media.

I have a client(a brewing company) who wants me to give them ideas about what they can do online both on social media channels and the internet generally.

Please can you suggest to me any clear path to go with….

    Your response is highly appreciated…

  • What they use will  depend on:

    • their commitment to being consistent
    • the kinds of followers they are looking to attract
    • the time they will devote weekly / daily to interacting with followers
    • the time they will devote to providing good quality content
there are other factors but these are the first questions they need to answer.  After that they can put their plan together

  • I’m not an expert on this field, but take into account Facebook regulations on alcoholic beverages.

  • @woleraymond There are a lot of good examples from other liquor companies that they can use as examples of how to do posting that gets interaction.  Here are some pages I like:

    http://www.facebook.com/AveryBrewing

Here is a good article: http://thenextweb.com/socialmedia/2012/03/24/social-networks-are-becoming-the-go-to-platform-for-alcohol-marketing/

    Hope that helps!

  • @woleraymond  The FB pages @andrea-vahl suggested above are really good examples of companies doing it right, so I’d start there.

Another thing I’d do — and you may have already done this since this is one of your current clients — I’d take a look at your client’s website and see what kind of content they’ve already produced that you can repurpose for social media. I know that sounds really obvious, but I recently landed a big new client by showing up at the initial meeting with a document in hand that laid out a clear strategy for repurposing the client’s deep bench of previously created high-value content. This was something they hadn’t even thought of!   Which surprised me, but there ya go.  ; )

They loved this idea, because it means we can get started right away using what they already have, while at the same time planning strategically for the coming months, crafting other ways we can optimize their presence on social media, and online generally.

  • “Suggest a brew” promotion?

    1. Users submit their sekret beer recipes
    2. Top 3 entries actually get produced (tiny run) by the company
    3. Winner via taste test gets put into production?
    4. Winning contestan gets a 6 month supply of beer?
Maybe something like that. If they go for it, company would only make 1 entry to reduce cost.
