Social Media Loyalty Rewards (6 posts)

  • Hi all! I’m a Marekting Manager at a lakeside resort and I’d like to launch a Social Media Loyalty Rewards campaign. This would be an internal campaign that would reward guests for posting a comment on the resort’s FB page, review on Trip Advisor or mention on Twitter. The reward would be a bounce back of a percentage off their next stay. Does anyone have a similar campaign or program in the hospitality industry? Do you have advice or would you share pitfalls or positives?

    Thanks so much,

    Erin

  • Hi Erin,

I actually have a friend who operates a loyalty program for restaurants, but his IT folks are pretty good and I see no reason why he could not configure it for your FB & resort customers. His name is Pat Griswold and his number is 440-599-8666. He owns a pizza cafe in NE Ohio but he is a former marketing exec for a major tire company. He is a very nice guy and will point you in the right direction. Tell him I referred you. My name is Mark Tennant and I live in Geneva, OH. Run your thoughts by him. He should be able to help out. You can also email him at pgriswold@salesbuildersystems.com.

Hope it works out for you.

    Cheers,

    Mark

  • Hi Mark,

It’s nice to meet you and thank you for the referral. I will definately send Pat an email and let him know that you passed along his information. Again, thanks for the help.

    All the best,

    Erin

  • Sounds like a great idea @erandell   Just to give another idea, I had a guest poster write about some social rewards programs but they weren’t specific to TripAdvisor so if that’s what you want to focus on these won’t work.  But here are some different apps that you may see if you could incorporate: http://andreavahl.com/facebook/six-facebook-apps-that-generate-customer-loyalty.php

I’d love to hear how things go for you so keep us posted!

  • @andrea-vahl the link is not working. I would like to see that list :)

Hi @erandell, I think a social rewards program is a great idea for motivating guests. The one thing I would think about is what could be of real value to your guests. You mention a % on the next visit, but what about if I’m just passing by for a weekend and live on the other side of the world? I might not find that reward interesting to take the effort of giving the resort a testimonial. Instead, a % on the restaurant or at the bar for some drinks by the pool may sound cool. Don’t you think? Think about all the possibilities before you define one and maybe try to do some polls before implementing anything to have good data on what could be of great value for them to share a testimonial, a photo on Instagram, Facebook or whatever.

    Hope this comment helps.

    Best!
    Max.

  • Sorry about that, @maximiliano-garcia – had some extra characters in there.  Here it is:  http://andreavahl.com/facebook/six-facebook-apps-that-generate-customer-loyalty.php

    Great ideas!
