Social media analytics? ROI proof for clients? (9 posts)

  • Would love to hear what others are using for analytics for Facebook or other social media properties.Specifically … I had a client comment that he didn’t know if all his social media work was paying off, as in how can he measure his social media ROII had some ideas, but thought I would ask here to see what is being used to give clients proof their money is being well spent. Also, do you supply the client with any type of report? Thanks … Scott

  • Here is an article that might help:

  • real proof…like some  believable  link to the incoming  CASH….. and   face to face  comments about   the  social media,   if  its a  brick and mortar  situation….

  • Thanks @michaelpingree … I hadn’t really thought about using social media to drive traffic to their website. I mean, the website for many of my clients is just an extension of information and not really used much more than that, but it certainly could be.

With traffic being driven to their website, the analytics makes more sense, and they have more control of the reporting. My main target right now is restaurants, and some are adamant about not using discounts/coupons, so I was trying to think of what they could do to entice people to visit their site … photos could work nicely … tease them with one or two at a time and ask them to visit the website for more.

Thank you again for sparking some thought on my end … Scott

  • @scottprock For restaurant marketing I would:

    1. Create a Pinterest account and load it with photos of their food items
    2. Use the search feature on Twitter to look for people talking about food in their city. I had a client that would get several “I am looking for a great breakfast place in [city]. Any suggestions?” He would get a couple of new people in every week with that.
    3. Use Facebook to show how great the restaurant is. Show pictures of the food and show some of the “fresh” ingredients they use to make the dishes. Also see if customers will let them take pictures to show how happy the customers are.
    Just some thoughts….

  • @scottprock a popular resturant in our town    puts their soup of the day on  every day…and other things  once in a while…… they are thrilled with facebook and the response…

  • @michaelpingree Great article Michael! I don’t know how i missed it. Thanks for sharing!

  • @scottprock I provide my association board with a monthly report showing website traffic and social media activity (views, clicks, RTs, etc.). While I don’t have a direct link, I know that our paid job postings and directory orders have clicked up a bit over last year. I am waiting to promote next year’s conference for a more connected test of social media and public relations to registration sales.
