2 months, 3 weeks ago: I have a client who has a profile and a page, both are in his name as he is in the public eye. He set up the profile first, before he had a clear understanding of profiles & pages. So now we’re trying to back pedal a bit to boost the visibility of the page.
He would like to use the profile to interact with family and friends, and use the page as the main way he interacts with the public. However, the profile is the one that comes up in searches – both on Facebook and Google. As a result his profile is much more active than the page.
Here are some of the options we’ve talked about:
** Lock down the privacy settings on the profile, and hope the page rises to the top for searches on FB and Google. I’m reluctant to do this though, and not certain it would have the desired effect.
** Run FB ads – not currently in the budget.
** Ask (again!) for his friends to move over to his page. This has had limited success in the past.
** Continue to use his profile to interact with the public.
We’ve done the obvious in optimizing the page, and I know it needs activity by the page owner. A big part of the problem is that he doesn’t have a lot of time to devote to growing the page. He is active on it but not as active as he needs to be.
I’m not sure if it’s possible to get the page to show up higher on search results given the constraints, but I’m hoping someone here might have a bright idea.
