I manage a sports related page and I have the profanity block as strong and the F word is one of the blocked words. Twice we have had postings with the f word. Any suggestions as to why Facebook isn’t blocking the post?

That’s very odd, @kathyweir – have you noticed if it’s different variations or the verb form vs adjective form? LOL. I have found the profanity block to work well on the pages I manage. I don’t have any suggestions other than to just keep adding words.

@kathyweir It could be linked to the age demographic you have set for your page. Check your page’s settings. Look around for an age thing. My page is set to 13+ because my product is rated Teen+. You could have your set to 18+ or 14+. Not sure what the “swearing age” would be but it’s worth a look

Thanks Soundgate Studio. I did check the age and it is set at 13. I will need to watch for future variations of the word and include them too. I don’t like deleting comments. It’s okay to support other teams, just be civil.

Very odd, are they spelling it the normal way and Facebook just isn’t catching it, or are they using sneaky workarounds like “Fu(k” or “f|_|ck?” Serious question.
Gawker commentors had a very high level discussion about a similar topic in the comments of this thread the other day.
TMZ has the toughest word filter I’ve seen. Works to a fault, where they would censor something like cummerbund. Mentioned in the Gawker thread.

I have become jaded from teaching in a middle school. It is getting worse and worse so it is carrying on to Facebook.
