  • yesterday  on my  facebook post…in  the words not the picture….someones name  appeared… it was a live link to his page…..   i dont like it and   cant  figure out how  he did it  or how  to  get it off… its in pale     blue at the end of my post…  with his name….   http://www.facebook.com/greenoakantiques    its  3 posts  down, with the  girl with her  back to  the  camera…any  ideas on this?   i dont know the person but he might be  a like on the page…the link  just  goes to his personal page  but  for  what?

  • It appears that “Patti Beery” who is one of the people that “Liked” the pic, tagged Donald Beery in the picture.

  • ok..that  makes  sense…..  thanks @warrenveach     i didnt  thnk of a tag    ….since     he or she isnt in the picture…..   maybe  she  just  wanted to send it to him for some reason…

  • How he did it? When you type one of your friends names, it can show up as a link, similar to the @twittername on twitter.  This then “alerts” that person, a form of “tagging”
Why?  I think this person was trying to show his friend something on your page or that photo. So not a bad thing.  Most of us would not click that link as it means nothing to us.
Hope that helps!  Love the use of photos on your page.. you distracted me for a few :) I will stop in

  • duh on me….i  didnt think of  the  tagging possibility…i dont  get much tagging , since i dont have many  people  in the pictures….we did lots of people  pictures   once and it  was  wildly popular….  they shared  their pictures  a  whole  lot!!!  i did it at an event and  go  so many   neat  family and  friend  groups and put it in an album…..   @kathleenrollins p.s.  i love hearing  any and all  new ideas  for my page….glad  you looked….

  • A good use of a tag might be, for example, I see something in one of your pictures that I think one of my friends might like to see or be interested in, so I tag him by commenting with a “@myfriend” in the comments to bring it to his attention.

Technically its not “tagging” in the common usage of the term, but IMHO its still tagging.

  • @warrenveach right…. i see that now…it  was a new one  to me…
