Photos on FB/Twitter & any other SM site (3 posts)

  • How how many CREATE their own art/photos with quotes and such for facebook/twitter and the other various social media outlets?  Do you get photos from iStock or create your own or a mixture…?

I would like to start doing this, but am not really sure on how to go about it.  I’m in the process of experimenting with Pixilmator (a Mac program like Photoshop) and taking some of my own photos…but this is time consuming.

  • When I am creating items, I buy the photos and graphics from istockphoto etc and add the quotes or whatever using Snagit. I do have Photoshop but I find it quicker to do the small stuff in Snagit. The photos are only $1 – $3 a piece and that is OK with me. I never take my own photos but for someone with talent / interest that could well be a route to go.

As a web developer I have seen the consequences of using photos / graphics that a site does not have  rights to. In my contract with my clients there is a line saying that THEY take all responsibility for having full copyright / use rights to all artwork they give me to put on the site.

  • It depends on what you want to do with the photos and what what the purpose is.  I have a graphic design dregree so any creation that I do, I do with Adobe because I’ve done it for years.  But if you are not that experienced I would consider speaking with someone about how to begin.  Graphic design is a deff. a time consuming job, which is why people get paid to do it haha.
