Personal FB now enjoys a dedicated ”Pages Feed”! (13 posts)

  • Hello Everyone!  Facebook is “rolling out a new product called Pages feed that will allow you to see only content from the pages you follow in your main feed. This section was discovered earlier in the month in testing, but Facebook has confirmed to The Next Web today that it is rolling out to all users.”

I guess this is good news for all of the FB page admins out there! Let’s hope our fans don’t like over 400 pages cause our post will still get buried among other Fan pages status updates :)

Here is the entire article if you would like to learn mor: http://thenextweb.com/facebook/2012/11/14/facebook-confirms-dedicated-pages-feed-section-rolling-out-shows-you-only-content-from-pages/?fromcat=all&buffer_share=ac2ac&utm_source=buffer

  • Very cool.

  • @systaley I’m very excited about it but it still doesn’t seem to be showing me “all”  the Pages updates.  I have to do a little more digging but when I first looked at it, all the posts were old.  But then I looked again and it was more “real time”.  I’m going to be doing some more testing to see how well it works!  At least it’s something!

  • Hi @andrea-vahl – this feature has not been rolled out to the Middle East yet so I was wondering if you are starting to get updates in real time now? Does this feature seem as promising as it should be?

    Thank you :)

  • Great feature, but people still have to click on it to see the updates. It’s an important step though.

  • Not sure this is a positive!  Essentially we will have to retrain our page followers to go to the the posts.  One of the biggest sellers for my clients is that their posts show up in the actual news feeds of their followers.
Thoughts?  Any ideas on solving this?

  • Correction!!!

Note that this does not affect the way that the News Feed works at all, instead, this allows you to see a continuous separate feed with just pages content. This serves a desire among some Facebook users to see more from the pages that they follow in their feed.”

This was pulled from the link sited above… It’s just a allocated section for just pages, not a separation!  Whew!  I was worried.

  • I’m trying to think of how this feature will benefit Facebook users.  (I can see how it would benefit brands/Pages – more visibility.)  What are your thoughts on that?  Also, does anyone know if the “complementary” feature is available – can users have a newsfeed with just friends and no Pages?

  • I have been looking at this over the last few days, @robinoshaughnessy @suzanne_doughty @cristmg  I haven’t been able to verify fully if I’m missing updates in this feed or not because they are all out of order.  Which I find frustrating!  But at least it is something.

I do think it will benefit people who are interested in hearing from Pages but will people remember to click on it often?  I doubt it.  I think it’s a way for Facebook to address all the Page owners who are upset about the visibility of Pages in the News Feed.

  • Thanks, @andrea-vahl. Yes, I think that it’s sort of a pacifier/appeasement move on Facebook’s part toward Page owners. Maybe I’m missing something, but I just don’t anticipate many users clicking on that Pages feed.  It’s like watching TV just to see the commercials. :)

A completely different question, and maybe I should start a new thread or something…  How can I learn more about what software platform this online community is based on?

  • @andrea-vahl thanks for sharing your experience. Agreed, it does seem like a move to appease fan page biz’es that are upset. I hope that they work out the order snag. :)

It will be interesting for me to see if it is implemented here eventually.

  • @suzanne_doughty this community is built on WordPress. I’m happy to answer questions as my husband and I build sites just like this one.

  • Thanks, @amyhallbiz, I might have some questions later.  Again, thanks!
