Page has been recategorised (7 posts)

  • I just started to handle a FB Page of a new customer of mine and I’m trying to get everthing set up right. Now, the page shows the following message:

This Page has been recategorised as a Community Page

Community Pages represent causes, topics and ideas (as opposed to official entities such as businesses, bands and public figures). This change has not affected your Page’s presence on Facebook. If you think your Page has been miscategorised, Let us know.

Unfortunately, the ‘Let us know’ link only refers to the standard Q&A section of FB but provides no help whatsoever on how I can switch back to an ‘official entities’ page. Does anyone know where I can change this? In Basic Information I have entered ‘local business/place’ – ‘Food/Grocery’ but this seems not to have an effect on the overall category…

  • Is this the same page as the other thread?  Maybe that’s why the insights aren’t showing up.  But it looks to me that the page is showing up as a Place now.  I’ve just heard that happening to a couple other people – I don’t know why that is happening – Facebook may be going through a lot of pages and changing them right now.  I think you would have to submit a request to Facebook through this link:  www.facebook.com/help

  • Thanks, @andrea-vahl. Yes, it’s the same page. I was also thinking that the problem with the insights could be linked – but I didn’t find any information saying that community pages don’t have insights…

In the meantime I tried to merge an existing ‘Place’ page with my ‘community’ page and was hoping that this helps. Maybe this is why you see it as place now.

Maybe a stupid question, but how exactly do you see that the page is now a place? From the admin view, nothing has changed. Can I assume then that it’s not a community page anymore? Since Facebook can take away your admin rights for community pages once the number of fans gets too high, I’m afraid of putting too much work into a page that could be lost at some stage…

  • this post I found might help you?  Seems facebook have an automated system that trolls through various types of pages.  Does your page have a vanity url?

Let us know how you go.   sounds like it can be a slow process.

  • Thanks for the link, @fionalucas. This sounded like the right solution for me but unfortunately, the link has now been redirected to the Facebook help page – which is a one-way-street. Anyway, I have now posted a question in the forum and hope that anyone knows if my page is a true ‘place’ now (since I merged it) or if it’s still a community page in the background and how this can be solved. Pfff. :-(

And yes, all the things to avoid were applicable to my page. No vanity url and no regular updates in the past. This will change now! ;-)

  • Sorry I mised where you put the page name…happy to have a look.

Sometimes its a learning curve isnt it?

  •  Thanks @fionalucas. The link is https://www.facebook.com/Teenorissimo.
