Opened client’s Facebook Page while logged in as myself (6 posts)

  • I accidentally created a business page for a client without logging out from my own account.  I can easily add the client as an Administrator, but would have to give out my own log-in to vendors for any customization work/etc. to be done.  Question – can I re-create the page with a new log-in while keeping the same url that I already customized for his business name yesterday?

  • Did this once…  Deleted the page, recreated, but unable to use same URL as it was “taken”  I do not know how long it would take for the URL to be released & available.

Once a vanity URL is created it is forever. Facebook does this for security reasons.

When I do custom work on a clients page I start by liking the page from my personal acct and then have them add me as an admin. That way I can access the page to do whatever I need to do.

Just add them as an administrator.  If you don’t stay on as an administrator and are removed or you remove yourself, they will keep the page.  Oh and no, you don’t have to share your login details.  They can access the page from their own account.  If they don’t have any type of Facebook account, have them set it up or you set it up.

Since you made the page yesterday, I would assume it wouldn’t make a huge difference if you started over since after 25 likes you can get a vanity URL.

  • @angelamurnin You can’t create another page using name url even if u delete original page. As you said you can add client as an admin, try to do that. I don’t think you will need to give your credentials to client. Why don’t you get client like the page and add him/her as admin so that s/he can login to page using his/her credentials.

  • @angelamurnin you should have your client “like” the page and then add them as an Administrator. Were you intending to create the page under someone else’s account? If so you would want to add the necessary parties as admins so the work can be done on the page and you would avoid giving out your login information.
