not sure what to do about facebook fan page! (20 posts)

  • Hey Social Examiner, thank you so much for the tips and instructions about facebook pages. Could you please take the time to check out my facebook page and give me some criticism or suggestions for improvement?

    My main concern is that i have 200 friends on my friendlist and i have sent an invite to everyone one of them to join my facebook page. However, I manage to get 30 (now it is 133 due to other facebook page promoting my facebook page on my request) of them to join (half of which i personally inform them to join).

    How can I improve this? I would love to get more followers and people talking about it. I’ll admit, it’s a pleasure to see readers being engaged in discussions and to share their thoughts.

    I try to keep my blog contents fresh. But due to low traffic and lack of awareness to my blog site and fan page, I’m beginning to feel less enthusiastic about my works.

    How can I improve this and get out of this zone?

    I want to say that i did read the 5 ways to increase your facebook engagement blog. However, it doesn’t seem to fit my niche. My niche is about chiropractic, nutrition, and wellness. I do share pictures promoting natural health and chiropractic.

    My website does not have any monetary income nor do I plan to do so because I do not have any sponsor nor the means to make creative incentives. Also, this means i am not able to do raffling or giveaways.

    How does one go about asking for guest-blog or ask other pages to promote my facebook page?

    I would love yours and anyone input on this. Thank you! :)

  • I like your site, not a narrow view and cover a lot around your topic. Nice colors and you seem to be geting interactive.

    Who would be a good guest blogger for you? Figure out who that is and figure out what you can do for that individual. If I was a well known author I would want a large audience before agreeing to do a guest post. But, you can ask a half dozen lesser known people to write for you.

    Look for people that have an unusual topic. I had lunch with 3 guys from the office and we all spoke about things related to your site. Then apropos nothing one guy explained that kosher/halal was better for out health because the animals are not in a panic second before they die – so they don’t flood their blood with… (whatever). And then the blood is drained, so the critter is clean.

    I don’t know/care if that is true, but what a great subject. Stay on topic but choose a little different.

  • @manan-patel I think you’ve done quite a good job creating and sharing interesting content. So much so, that I liked your FB page to continue hearing from you. I understand what it feels like to be in that zone. I’m there myself. It’s tough investing time creating blog posts that you’re proud of and feeling that those two visitors to the page were probably me and my mom ;) I believe the important thing is to keep plugging away at it, ask questions, learn, engage…For what it’s worth, it seems to me that you are doing all of these things so don’t give up! Enjoy what you are doing…it’s the journey not the endpoint.

  • Hi @Dawn Chitwood Rivers , Thank you for liking my page!

    I really appreciate your inputs! I guess I am on the right track and doing the right thing!

    Another question, How can one go about asking another facebook page admin or creator to help promote my page by announcing on their own page, properly without coming off like a inbox spammer or solicitor??

    Last night I had 31 likes. After I ask a facebook page admin (admin proud parents of unvaccinated children) to kindly make announcement. In 10 minutes, my likes exploded and from 31 to 131. Now, it’s dying off but slowly going up a bit.

    Thank you! :)

  • LOVE the page. I see you are very engaged.  I would try offering tip of the week like “unlock Chiropractic tip # 1″  People are always searching info especially when it comes to health.  You are already doing that on your page. What’s nice about FB you can explore to see where you get the most interactions and feed off that.

  • awesome suggestion! i honestly haven’t thought of that. you are right that people do look for info when it comes to health!

    Is it wrong to look at similar chiropractic pages or blogs to replicate ideas and mix it up with my own viewpoints?

  • @manan-patel You could offer something of value to your visitors to like your page on a Custom Tab, so once they like your page, they get access to it.

    I would also be careful putting your different urls on your cover photo. It’s against FB’s policy.

    I would edit your description of your Cover photo and put a link to your website

    You could add your FB url to your Pinterest links to drive some traffic back to your FB page.

    Those are just a few quick tips that I noticed when looking at it. Keep up the good work!

  • @manan-patel I don’t think there is a thing wrong with getting ideas from others in the field. Most everyone derives inspiration from their peers.

  • @danhoward I had no idea that it was against facebook policy! =/

    Do you think a qr code and my main website URL on the cover photo would suffice?

    I am not understanding your point about Pinterest link. I do know that when i go to pinterest.com and edit my profile. It will only let me “repin” and show my pin activity on my facebook timeline (not my facebook page timeline).

    That’s why I made a pinterest app tab.

    I would love that pinterest users from pinterest.com to see my repin and see the link to my facebook page. Is that what you are saying here?

    I would appreciate any tips on how to implement this. I do not see any options on pinterest setting.

    Thank you for the heads-up! :)

  • @manan-patel I post beauty tips on my facebook page but I don’t think of these tips myself. I research, read reviews, and share what I find with my fans.  If I have a good link, I just direct them to it.  I just provide one “Did you know…” sentence. My page is fairly new so I am not the best person for advice.  Just play around to see everyone’s reaction. You are doing way better than I am. :)

  • try using about.me where you can promote all your links.  mine is about.me/mvazquezI think you can just post this url or a shortened url on your fb page.
    @manan-patel

  • @mchillemi  I actually do have the about.me! I will just do that! :) Thank you for the suggestions!

  • How can one go about asking another facebook page admin or creator to help promote my page by announcing or make a post on their own page, properly without coming off like a inbox spammer or solicitor??

    I don’t want to come off rude or think that i’m selfish in asking for something.

  • Manan, you can try to send a private message to the page and describe the benefits of linking your two pages by liking one another. Like this you don’t invade the page but you have the possibility to explain your intention.

    What you can also do is comment on posts of other related pages in the name of your page. When you comment, you should not obviously promote your page but add value to the conversation. Other people who participate in the conversation might check out and like your page as a result.

    @manan-patel

  • Thank you!
    @claudiapoeckl

  • @manan-patel You have a good page! Full of great info– I would suggest that you put your website link as the first thing on the about section- that way it is easy to click through to.

    Optimize your photos so that they can be seen easily on your timeline. (Square works best- FB will resize) This way when someone sees your page for the first time, they will be able to see the entire picture from your timeline.

    You have a great engagement rate at 87% so I would say you are on the right track!

  • @nicole-allen

    Thank you for the information! I will definitely put the website link in the about section.

    as for optimizing, it’s a pet peeve of mine. All day, i’ve been trying to figure out how to get the proper pixel dimension. The photos that I used “Did you know” photos are in 915×600 pixel in canvas size in photoshop.

    I was wondering what’s the proper dimension? I was thinking 600×600?

    Thanks again for the response. good to know that I am on right track! :)

  • @manan-patel  I think that as long as you post pics that are square, 600×600 or 1000×1000, FB will autoresize it. I would suggest that you go at least 400×400 to take up the entire size of the space tho.

    Do you link back often to your blog page? There are some great free apps that you could use on your page to link back to your blog. Looks like you use wordpress, check out their app for facebook and see if that is something that may interest you.

  • Actually it’s good you brought that up! I was in middle of finding an app or plugin to find something to link back to my blog whenever I post a picture on the facebook page. Will definitely confirm what plugin is good that purpose.

    I have noticed that there were 3 readers that came from pinterest that join my page (O.o) so I should pay more attention to that.

    @nicole-allen

  • I have used publicized before, have you used it? I could create a seperate page on my blog for the “Fun Facts” or “Tidbit” ..not exactly sure what to call it for “Did You Know…?” type of pictures. I could publish it and it will probably automatically re-post to my facebook page that will allow user to go to my blog or reshare the picture in which allow other readers to go to my blog
