Newbie at this Facebook Marketing stuff??? (9 posts)

  • Happy New Year everyone! My name is Scottie and I’m a Diabetic Fitness Advocator and I have a 90 day goal to start of 2012 to help 300 Diabetics lower and maintain their blood glucose by losing weight with the workout program me to lose 89 lbs and maintained my blood glucose for one year now. But here’s my problem I don’t know enough about marketing on Facebook, so I am about to purchase Amy Potterfield’s program and she looks like she knows her stuff but I’m thinking that this project too important just to buy a program. Should I just hire Amy instead or someone else? I don’t want to mess around of this because it is too important for me.

  • You should write it yourself to maintain sincerity. Your journey here sounds intensely personal and could lose that by having someone else do this. It is also a critical issue facing more Americans than are willing to admit. There are other voices out there sharing this message I bet. Find them look how they do it.

Faceebook and Blogging are simple enough to start out. Get a wordpress.com account and cross populate it to FB. twitter and Google Plus. Those can be done simply with existing tools that are free.

I look forward to reading about your journey and will be happy to offer any advice, this forum and the blogging forum are great paces to get that.

  • What you are writing about us important and interesting. And you will be pitching to the social/personal side of people. As opposed to a photocopier salesman who is pitching to the business side of us. So you and your services are a great match foe social media. That’s the good news. The tough love news? You will need to work it. Find a program that promises to teach you how to work social media. Not one that does it for you. Not one that claims you can do it without much work. Read the topics here about how much time people put in. You can do it!

  • Thanks Abigail! Well I’m really impress with the women behind “Facebook Marketing for Dummies” because they lay it down in a simple format. So I will do my due diligent on working on it myself today.

  • @scottieschufford-anderson  While I agree with  @abigailgorton and   @glengorham  that you have to make this work for you, I think hiring someone for an hour can make a HUGE difference in your understanding of Facebook Marketing.  I do know Amy’s program would also be beneficial (she and I worked together on the book) sometimes having someone answer your direct questions about your personal business can really help you jumpstart your efforts.

  • Awesome Glen! I have a fanpage called “Diabetes Rescue 911″ but it’s still under construction. I will be video blogging as well!

  • And funny you mention your book…downloading it now! I join this join because your name was attached.

  • @scottieschufford-anderson I would also recommend Mari Smith and her webinars. I found them very useful while ramping up on Facebook.

A book recommendation is: Success Secrets of the Social Media Marketing Superstars, edited by Mitch Meyerson. It provides an overview of using various social media platforms to convey your message.

Are you trying to gain interest / engagement from program online in order to convert them to an offline program? Or are you selling an online monitoring / accountability program? (Sorry if I missed it in your initial post).

    Best wishes!

  • Thanks!
