  • I was thinking earlier today that with the limited number of tabs we can now have for apps, why not use of of them for a ”More Apps” type page that would list all of them with clickable links.

    Any ideas?

  • i was  thinking of that too…  are  there any   restrictions on  facebook about   links?     i thought about a  connect with us tab  ….and  our site and  blogs  there…. @tracourt

  • @annfurnivall – I use a mini-web type of page. If you click on any of my custom pages, they have a menu navigation system that goes to the others so they are all connected. So, I just need to have my Welcome custom tab at the top and whatever other two I want to highlight. What do you think of this method? My page can be viewed at http://www.facebook.com/fbsmarty – And if you want to LIKE to it, my thanks!

  • Good Idea @michellefontaine

I just ran across this great article on making the changes http://www.hyperarts.com/blog/facebook-timeline-for-fan-pages-frequently-asked-questions/

  • You can put your tabs under the Apps area, I haven’t seen a limit. You can move them around so the ones you want showing can be on the first line shown. You can also make a “Welcome” post with link to your welcome tab a pinned post and it can stay at the top of your post if you prefer that method.

  • @michellefontaine  your  menu  navigation system  looks  great….how  hard its it to do? …were  your links  to other, older posts on   your  facebook page?   that  could  be  real handy  too….  i like your  graphics for the links…so  clear…

also   wondering….can  you put  your  website  as a link in  one of  your  tabs?

  • im geting a lot  out of  all the outgoing links   explaining  this  stuff… about half of them are  using  words over my head….then i  cant  find  the  good ones to go  back …. i  really  wondered about that  fast  facebook  video   with no   words  ..with the singer and  fast moving pages…it was  fun  but   ?????.im on the learning  CURVE.TRYING NOT TO FALL OFF…..

@dailfrye   thats  what im  going to do…i  accidently  published   and  at  first was afraid id lost   my old  tabs..but i found  them….i guess they are called apps  now…lol..

  • @michellefontaine  I like your welcome page idea.  That way you can direct people to whatever you want.  Thanks for the ideas!

  • @tracourt

I think would be wise to focus on the four apps that show.  Judging by the overall lethargy of people, I think that people will not spend the extra time searching through the apps unless they are very intrigued.  No matter how innovative the actual layout will or can be, the majority of time spent on Facebook is dominated by the newsfeed.

  • I agree with you @nelsonta to a point–simple is best, but I’m willing to give up a primary tab for a great welcome page a la @michellefontaine for those wishing to learn more about my business. Just think I’ll come up with a different name than Welcome.

Sure glad I have a few weeks to figure all this out.

Thanks everyone for your insights… have a terrific weekend.

  •  And AWESOME article @deereinhardt THANKS.

  • you can only show up to 3 the others are hidden for  a total of 1o apps

  • I found several resources and compiled them all into a blog post athttp://time2mrkt.com/facebook/time-for-timeline/

  • Being an FB novice (I almost never go there) I don’t understand a lot of what’s what with the new timeline. I tweeted the articles you nice folks have mentioned after scanning them. Now need to go back; read; learn.

    Thanks to all!  :D

  • This is FB’s video course about new FB Pages and Timeline .. it is really very good http://www.learnfacebookpages.com/
