New about messages to businesses . . . (7 posts)

  • You don’t get notifications when someone send you a message . . . at least I didn’t and the message was time sensitive.  Luckily, the customer was able to get on the course and was understanding when he answered my reply.  However, I DO NOT like having to reply to a customer to say, “I’m sorry, I didn’t get this until after the tee time you requested because I had no idea it was here!”  How embarrassing!

Why give our customers a way to message us but not give us a notification unless we actually go to our page from a computer?  Not good at all!

    Check your email notification settings.

Manage Page  >> Edit Page >> Your Settings (top left in sidebar)

Email Notifications:Send notifications to myemail@me.com when people post to, comment on, or message your page.

If this is checked you should be getting email notifications of messages.

  • @juleswebb ~ I log into Facebook so much that I’ve never had it notify me by email.  However, since it doesn’t tell me any other way, I had better to this.  Thanks!

  • @dedimason

    no problem:)

  • @dedimason I am with you I was frustrated at first as well. We had 5 messages and didn’t know it.

  • @ryrussell ~ Man, that would have really upset me!  Guess I should be glad that I only had one who was very understanding.

  • Well, I understand the frustration but I think that you can invite your community members to post those kind of questions in the wall and leave the private messages to more sensitive information. Writing on the wall maybe will benefit other people with that situation and my advice… check your page every few hours. Don’t trust the notifications neither… for example, I don’t get the notifications all the time.Do a routine: check messages and check hidden posts too every time you do your job. Is more work, but at the end it pays with a more engaged community. If you cannot check your page often, put a disclaimer! “We are committed to a great service; we check our page 2 times a day (or daily, whatever) so make sure that if you have a question or comment that is time sensitive, is better to try calling or email us too/first/better…”
We are still humans with other responsibilities and people should understand that this is a community not a live 24/7 chat. Hope it helps!
