Need some support: developer.facebook.com/apps not working (7 posts)

  • Hello Everyone!

You guys were a great resource earlier, so I thought I’d come back again! Today’s problem?

    Homegrown Tabs
I work for a not-for-profit member owned cooperative. In an effort to save a few bucks in my budget, I want to develop our tabs in house just as we did many years ago for our FBML tabs. Since FBML is defunct, and those tabs were kind of ugly anyway, I want to develop something fresh and new… but in house.

    I’m being a curmudgeon. I know!

So here is the question: how do I go about doing this? I can find where to edit our current tabs… but I can’t find where to create new ones. Also, when I log into our Facebook page as the business I go straight to the advertisement page, and I cannot get to the app page. I can see the app page on my personal profile, so I know I have access to it.

I need to link our server up, show that it has an SSL certificate (it does!), and tie it all together so I can set up our new tabs through iFrames, but I can’t do any of that if Facebook won’t let me. Then I’ll have to turn to a third party system.

Has anyone else had this problem? How did you fix it?

    Jaso

  • Edit or create your app with facebook here:
    https://developers.facebook.com/apps

OR, use something like a zoom frame.  (I have this product I working on) so you can iframe your site instead (much easier).

  • @vincentedwards Hello Vincent! Thank you for your quick reply! When I go to the link you provided, or the one in my own post above, I get redirected to the Facebook Ads Manager, where I can make and control our advertising campaigns. It does not let me go to a page creator.

I am probably going to end up using third party software. I found someone who had a similar problem earlier this month that went away when he attached a personal account to the business page (ours has no personal page attached). I doubt I will be allowed to do that. I was hoping there was another solution we had missed.

  • @jasonreilly  This is one of my favorite tutorials on creating your own iFrame tab:  http://socialmouths.com/blog/2011/03/16/how-to-build-a-facebook-landing-page-with-iframes/  I was looking for another one but I didn’t find it off the bat.  I think things have changed a little bit but it’s a good place to start.   Hope it helps!

  • Im going to create a system to make it easy for people to create frames for their websites. I’ll let people know when its ready.  In a few days.

  • @andrea-vahl Thank you thank you thank you! :)

  • Just an FYI for those of you who have the narrow custom pages that you’ve built yourself. The way to get them to be 810 pixels wide is to go back to the developer app and select that radio button.
